Morgantown, W. Va (May 10, 2011) – The playing field evens out this weekend as the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series heads to a freshly designed Indy 100 course at the schedule’s newest venue in Gosport, Ind. This inaugural event will be co-sanctioned with the Mid America Cross Country Series, allowing riders to receive points in both series.

Only two points separate FMF KTM’s Charlie Mullins and FMF Makita Suzuki’s Josh Strang in the fight for the championship and after nearly a month off, the leading duo will be back in action this weekend at the Indy 100. Mullins secured his second win of the season in South Carolina, the only rider to secure more than one win so far this season. Am Pro Yamaha’s Paul Whibley sits a whopping 27 points back from the leader in third but this early in the game a second race-win could quickly tighten the points margin for the Yamaha rider.

Don’t count out FMF KTM rider Cory Buttrick, who sits only one point back from Whibley in the points chase as he looks for his first win at the new Indiana location. The young Ohio rider has finished in front of Whibley every round except one, so a race win would put Buttrick in better contention for a podium finish at the end of the season.

Factory Beta’s Chris Bach has struggled to stay inside the top ten this season after finishing an impressive third at round one in Florida. Bach made a few bike changes with the upgrade to a larger gas tank, which seemed to help in South Carolina – giving him an eighth place finish. The Indiana native will be competing in his home state this weekend, all the more reason to put his Beta machine back on the podium.

Race fans, friends, families and sponsors are invited to head over to Vendor’s Row Saturday night from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. to celebrate XC2 ATV points leader Walker Fowler’s High School Graduation. The Fowler family will be serving food and drinks under the big tent upon completion of Saturday’s races, so come join the 4.0 student in celebrating an accomplishment even bigger than winning a GNCC Championship!

This weekend’s event will also feature a raffle with all proceeds going to the LiveSTRONG Foundation. Items being raffled off include signed jerseys from top pro riders like Josh Strang, Barry Hawk, Charlie Mullins, Nate Kanney, Chris Bach and many more. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Moto Tees trailer in vendor’s row.

Spectator passes are $15 for the full weekend, including pro pit access and pro autograph session. On Saturday and Sunday, youth riders race at 8 a.m., amateur riders race at 10 a.m., and the top amateurs and the Pros race at 1 p.m. Local racers are encouraged to participate and may sign up at the event.

To get to the track, take 465 to 67 South. Go 28 miles. Turn right (North) on Drunkards pike. Go 2.5 miles. Location is on the left.
