GoPro is launching a new national TV campaign based on its HD HERO line of  sports cameras and gear – and there’s a contest to win a camera as well. The 16 action-sports commercials are unique because nearly all of them are consumer generated, using the HD HERO camera itself to shoot the footage. The 30-second videos feature GoPro customers and professionals dirt biking, skiing, snowboarding, surfing and more.

“We tell people that our cameras make it easy to capture broadcast quality HD video of themselves enjoying their favorite sports and activities, and thanks to these commercials we can now show people at home, on their own HD TVs, just how good a GoPro camera really is,” says Nicholas Woodman, GoPro’s founder and CEO.

The first HD HERO camera was launched in November of 2009, and since then GoPro says it has seen an explosion in the amount of HD content created from customers, with new videos posted every few minutes on YouTube titled or tagged “GoPro” to YouTube. More videos are posted daily to the GoPro’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/GoProCamera as well.

Aside from the cool videos and the chance for consumers to produce their own tieh GoPro cameras, the company is also giving away one of every product they make to one winner every day. The promotion appears at the end of each television commercial and visitors to GoPro.com can enter daily, no purchase necessary.
