Class 9
Class 9 had a strong turnout at the 97 Laughlin Challenge, with 8 entries making up the field. When the dust cleared, Brian Jeffery emerged victorious, and the only entry to complete all 10 laps.Jeffery completed the 10 with a time of 2:56:41, ahead of the 2nd place Chuck Hovey, who dropped out at 9 laps with a time of 2:38:53.

The big story in Class 9 however, occured with 3rd and 4th place finishers Lobsam Yee, and Daniel Mora. Mora had the point lead going in to the Challenge by the narrowest of margins. 1 point. With the 3rd place finish of Yee however, the point lead has been exchanged, with Nora being relagated to 2nd place going into the Baja 1000. Here is yet another Championship to be decised in the wilds of the Baja Peninsula.

Rounding out the field were Ed McLean with 8 laps in a time of :2:42"00, Darrin McGuffin with 3 laps in 51:04, Rick Poole, 1 lap in 17:03, and Greg Anderson failing to complete a lap.
