George Seeley continued his winning
ways at the 97 Laughlin Challenge, completing 10 laps in
just over 2 min. 20 seconds. "Sofa Dude"
increased his points lead over Mike Jakobson with the
victory, and Miggie's dissapointing 4th place showing.
With the Baja 1000 just over a month and a half away,
Seeley's Championship seems certain. In addition to the Baja 1000 and
likely 97 championship, Seeley has recently been
contacted by the "Discovery Channel" and will
be appearing on their show "Extreme Machines"
with his Class 5 racer. Off-Road.com is happy to have
been able to facilitate the deal between Discovery and
Seeley, which will bring our sport to an even wider
audience. Pete Shoren ran an
outstanding race finishing under 4 min. behind Seeley,
and closed the point gap with Jakobson. The battle for
second place between the two competitors in the 97
series, will be won or lost at the upcoming 1000 Dave Cua was the last
Class 5 to complete all ten laps, and that earned him the
3rd slot in the 97 Laughlin Challenge, just 10 min.
behind Shoren. Mike Nix (5th), Neal Grabowski (Class
Champion - 1996, 6th) and Tom Brown (7th) rounded out the
field with 7,3, and 3 laps completed respectively. | Position | Name | Laps | Time |
