Class 3

Darren Skelton & the Don-A-Vee Kia Sportage widened thier points lead with the Laughlin win, as the 97 SCORE Desert Series winds down. Skelton completed 9 laps in a time of just under 2 hr. 46 min., and likely sealed his 97 Class 3 Championship in the effort.

96 Champion Todd Gatrell finished second, a lap down at 8, with a time just under 2hr. 39 min. With Skelton far ahead in points, and Kovell a good distance behind, Gatrell will likely hold the #2 slot for the 97 season. His closest competitor, Kirk Kovell finished up 4th, completing no laps, and fell further back in the points chase.

3rd place went to Dick Sasser, who while not in contention for the Class 3 title, finished with a fine showing of 8 laps, in a time of 2 hr. 45 min.

Throughout the season, several class 3's have competed, and the Baja 1000 always results in a strong showing. The afordable class is gaining popularity in several series, and we'd like to see that trend continue here in SCORE. Come on Guys and Girls, Race'm if ya' got'em!
