I thought it was weird to specialize in writing on off-road and fashion topics until I learned these are two of Advanstar's top industries. Fashion and rock crawling aren't that different, if you think about it. Both take a unique style and careful eye to pull off.

Living by a simple principle, which is enjoy what you do, write about what you do, and get your writing published, is what drew me to covering rock crawling: I went to an event and enjoyed it, and the rest is self-explanatory if you read the previous sentence. I love covering driver and spotter profiles, because you can get to know the person behind the competition. I get to focus on understanding a person's tone of voice more than their actual words, and this helps bring individual feeling to each person's story/piece. My goal is to bring out the hero.
