This is my 1989 Samurai JX, with a big block 1324 cc (as opposed to the 1294 cc). It's my third Suzy and I can tell you that it's definitely the best 4x4 for the dollar! (I have owned a Toyota Land Cruiser, CJ7 & Willys CJ3B). After spending quite a bit of money on the other Suzys that I had in the past, I decided to built this one with only the things where you really appreciate the difference. So here is a list of current mods in order of importance and with my little comments on performance improvement. I did most of the mods by myself, and I enjoy rocks, mud, sand and whatever, with my partner Gonzalo Bravo.

Stock drive shafts frequently become problematic for Samurais with four or more inches of lift. A plain SPOA or a set of three inch lift springs with taller shackles is about the limit for their length. To avoid expensive custom drive shafts, aluminum drive shaft spacers that bolt between the stock drive shafts and the pinionsranging in size from 0.75 to 1.5 inchesare available from several Suzuki aftermarket vendors. These are designed to prevent over-extension of the slip yokes and a separation of the two halves of the shafts.
