Baby White the Desert Tank - Part 8: Summer Time WAM

July 1, 2002

Summer has arrived and it's time to bust out the WAM to cool you and your buddies down. The temperatures at Off-Road.Com headquarters reached well over 100 degrees last week and we were immediately reminded that summer was upon us.

Fort Hood Valentine's Day Run

June 1, 2002

The Big Texas Outing is two days of trail rides at the Ft. Hood Army Base north of Killeen, TX. Ft. Hood is the largest US army base. It occupies vast tracts of land stretching many miles north of Killeen. Amazingly, the base keeps a large area (Area 34) open for four-wheeling. To use the area, a person must stop by the "Area Access" office, sign a liability waiver, and view a brief video.

No matter how much WAM you put into your truck, sometimes you just gotta replace parts and accessories on your rig. Shortly after beginning the WAM project on the Desert Tank, I went and sought out some serious off-road shocks.

It's nearly summer and everyone is restless. The snow and cold are diminishing and the weeds are popping up. Yep, WAM continues to grow like a cornfield in Nebraska.

First, I must report the latest WAM sighting update. It was Friday, March 8, 2002 and I was steering The Desert Tank down Pacific Coast Highway, when I looked over and saw a passenger in a white Chevrolet off-road equipped truck nearly hanging out of his passenger side window.

March 1, 2002

WAM Rocks! Since the holidays, I've been besieged with WAM comments from all throughout the country. Your e-mails are greatly appreciated, and any time I can assist a fellow WAM off-roader, I'm here to help.

When was the last time you were blasting up the grade from the Colorado River into Parker, Arizona? Well for the Desert Tank, it was this summer. The 30' Weekend Warrior travel trailer was loaded to the gills with toyz. Yep, quads, 16-foot Zodiac with the outboard, bikes and inflatable tow toyz that my kids used during the long weekend.

Well, boyz and girlz, was Christmas good to you? I hope all your dreams came true over the holidays. Now, let's get back to fixing up that truck of yours and reading about The Desert Tank.

Part 1: The Initial Rampage

December 1, 2001

After the initial shock of coming home to the wifey with a near-$40K truck, I waited a few weeks (my wife claims it was only a few days) before I visited Costa Mesa Tire and Wheel, located in Costa Mesa, California.
