Off-Road in the GW National Forest

These were taken just after a rainstorm on the Dictum Ridge trail near the George Washington National Forest. We started down the stair-steps and the clouds opened up. We waited for over a half hour for the rain to stop and assess our routes over the rocks. It was hard enough walking on the rocks, much less driving over them.

After a slip on a rock that almost rolled me into the tree, Rick, owner of the Sammy in the background, decided to be my “counterbalance” to assist me down the stair-steps.

Here is a picture of my Sammy, taken in the George Washington National Forest on Jan 17, 1997. That day it was 8-10 degrees (F) up on the mountain. The wind-chill was probably in the minus degrees.
