Ted Grady and his wife were heading from Vernal, Utah to Moab, Utah and were cutting across the high mountains of Colorado. The unexpectedly ran into some serious problems after they began their descent down from Douglas Summit. Situated at some 9000 feet, they started down the hill in their 99 Dodge Ram stock truck with a new 30' enclosed trailer loaded with a competition professional rockcrawling Jeep inside.

Not long after this photo of Ted waving to us, he fried his stock brakes on the descent. He DID get almost stopped and we watched in horror as they nearly plopped over the side of the mountain road with this nearly unstoppable truck and trailer.

As he got stopped we arrived in the Dodge Ram ORC Desert Tank and put the heavy ladended trailer on the ATS/ORC Desert Tank. Each tire in the competition rockcrawler was loaded with 500lbs of water for stability while in competition and the trailer was loaded with all the gear for a month on the road. Parts, wheels, tires, tools and his wife's clothes...say no more.

Once loaded we engaged the ATS installed Cummins PacBrake and didn't touch the brake all the way down the hill over 40 miles to I-70. In fact, we had to check a few times to see if Ted and his stock Dodge Ram were back there behind us somewhere. Once we hit I-70 we put the ATS Stage IV trans and ATS installed Edge Comp box to work as we pulled hill after hill without even a heavy breath.

We blasted by Mr. Ford and his home on wheels like he was standing still. As he powered up and started to bellow black smoke we mashed the pedal and left him in the dust.

If you have any reason to doubt the high-performance and quality of ATS Diesel Performance, think again. We continue to abuse our ATS Diesel transmission and it continues to amaze us wherever we are.
