As manufacturers roll-out their 2003 model year
pickup trucks, diesel engine owners everywhere are interested to
see how the competition stacks up against Ford. Power Stroke®
Diesel owners and enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the 2003
model year Power Stroke Diesel, manufactured by International Truck
and Engine Corporation, not only remains the most powerful diesel
engine available in a pickup truck, but it exceeds expectations by
providing more power with fewer emissions.
The new Power Stroke Diesel, combined with a new 5-speed electronic
TorqShiftTM automatic transmission from Ford, provides more torque
capability to accommodate increased engine output. Cooled exhaust
gas recirculation and a second generation hydraulic rail fuel
system, helps to reduce exhaust emissions by 20 percent compared to
the previous engine. Additionally, the all-new rear gear train
design and new oil pan construction reduces noise levels
considerably.
A closer comparison reaffirms Power Stroke Diesels
dominance over the competition.
