you have comments and/or additions, contact Brett
Shankle. 1. Q: I want to put a suspension lift on my Bronco, What other modifications will I need to make? A: The trick here is to go with a complete "kit" when lifting, some items to look for are:
2. Q: My Bronco makes a noticeable "CLUNK" sound when I accelerate from a stop, why? A: Most likely it is the spring mounting pads on the rear axle, look to see if the mounting pads are rounded off or bent, if they are, replace them or weld up and grind off material until it is flat again 3. Q: When I apply the brakes, my Bronco makes a sudden change of direction, not always the same direction, why? A: Check the rubber bushing in the front suspension, look for missing, worn or deteriorated bushings. If you find any that need replacing, replace them all at the same time. 4. Q: No air blow out of the heater or defroster when I turn it on, the fan motor is turning. A: Look into the passenger side air intake, right in front of the windshield under the hood, and follow the duct-work to the fan, look for a build-up of leaves or any thing blocking the air-flow. 5. Q: My Bronco has vacuum operated wipers, every time I step on the gas they come to a stop, why? A: Some one has removed the original fuel pump which had a vacuum pump on it, replace the pump with the correct type or as a temporary fix, put a vacuum reservoir in the system. 6. Q: I want to replace the 6 cyl. engine with a V-8, what is a good choice? A: Any of the small block ( 289, 302, 351 ) motors are a good choice, a big block motor can be put in, but, it is way heavier and much larger. There are plenty of kits to swap in small blocks 7. Q: What tire size can I run on my Bronco? A: Depends, 33x12.50x15 will fit with cut fenders and no lift. Uncut fenders really limit the width of the tire you can run. A lift kit allows much larger possibilities. Gear ratio is also a concern if you go to monster tires. 8. Q: I want to go to a 4-speed transmission, what is a good choice? A: Once again, depends on the use of the truck. The Ford top-loader is the usual choice, It is easy to find and get parts for and several companies make adapter kits to install it 9. Q: The front of my Bronco seems to sag, what causes this? A: Three things to check:
