1" body lift: I ordered a 2" lift and took the kit over to the local machine shop to have the blocks cut down to 1". I removed a
small lip under the fan instead of relocating the radiator. I also redrilled the front bumper mounting bolts to raise up the front bumper 3/4". A small bit of cutting was needed to allow the tranny shifter to work freely. I used some bolts from the kit but also needed to purchase some bolts that fit as I did not lift the truck the full 2"
Pounding the fender seam flat
The first step is putting on the 1" body lift. I used a 2" body lift and cut it in half. You could also use a 2" body lift and do less cutting to the fenders and you would also not need to remove the rear rust protector on the body. Take off the plastic inner lining on both fenders and pound the fender seam flat using a 5lb sledge hammer. It needs to be completely flat from top to bottom.
Now you will need to trim the back side of the front fenders.Take off the plastic inner lining on both fenders. I remove almost an inch off the bottom and gradually tapered it to nothing about 8" above the bottom using a metal nibbler. You will also need to remove the thin plastic rust preventer at the front of the rear fenders.
Reinstall the plastic liner, then cut about a 2" X 6" section out of the liner where it covers the fender seam . Pop rivet the liner in place to keep it as far away from the tire as possible. You will need to adjust the steering limiters a bit to limit the left turn radius just a hair to prevent the right tire from hitting the idler arm, There is no room for an idler arm brace but with out a lift you don't need one.
Now for the tires and wheels! I used American 8" black spoke wheels with 4.75" backspacing. These wheels are cheep to buy and easy to replace if you damage them on the trail. BFG makes 33" tires in 12.50, 10.50 and 9.50 widths. Other tire makes may be slightly larger or smaller See Ya on the trail!
