Price: About $135I purchased a Man-A-Fre 6 into 1 header for my 1971 FJ-55, with original straight six (yes!). I had a lot of trouble installing it and came to the conclusion that my oil relocation adapter would have to be altered. The solution would have been to take a sledge hammer and bang one of the pipes of the header in one inch where it was hitting the block! I finally just took my old headers and patched them with a high temp metal patch and took a sledgehammer and hit it in same spot where it was hitting (these things have been leaking since I got Cruiser 6 months ago!). The old headers fit better than new ones! I used an asbestos gasket included with new headers and High Temp Copper RTV Form A Gasket and put a bead on all ports and header side too. It doesn't leak. I wouldn't be so mad about new header not working if Man-A-Fre had been more helpful, when I called and explained the situation to them the technician said I was doing something wrong and I probably needed to have cylinder head machined on port side???? I've been
told by TLC (Totally Land Cruiser) and Specter Off-Road, two very
helpful and well-informed companies, that these headers are
notorious for not fitting well. They say that its best to go
back to the original exhaust manifold, which is going to be a later
project (economics - headers costs $145, new manifold & parts
costs upwards of $300. Follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/OffRoadDotCom
