The Yamaha Rhino has proven to be a huge hit to off-road enthusiasts.
Straight off the show room floor they are reliable and loads of fun.
However, some of the OEM parts will break over time especially the cheap
plastic seat latches. If your seat latch has broken or when they do break
there is a better alternative, the Black Rhino Performance billet seat
latch.
Yamaha seat latches are
made of molded plastic with the exception of the metal spring. When removing
the seat you lift up on the lever which has a small plastic piece that
pushes on the metal spring to release the seat. The issue is the plastic
piece that pushes on the spring breaks pretty easily. Once it breaks the
only way to remove the seat is to cut away a portion of the seat latch and
wedge a screwdriver in there to release the spring.
Enter Black Rhino
Performance! BRP has been an industry leader in Rhino performance parts
since the introduction of the Rhino. From engine performance, to roll cages,
to safety products, if BRP hasn't designed and tested it they are a
distributor for it (such as seats and lights). BRP saw the need for a seat
latch that would not fail over time. Their billet aluminum seat latch is
made of all aluminum. It consists of a 2 piece housing and a lever mechanism
with a durable spring release pin. The OEM spring is reused. There is no way
this thing is going to break!
If you're tired of
replacing the plastic OEM seat latches, spend the few extra dollars on the
Black Rhino Performance billet latches and forget about it!
Mike has been ATV'ing since the mid 80's, starting with an ATC250R. He traded up to a TRX250R a few years later and over the years, built it to be a serious dune machine. In 2006 he built a long travel sand car to roost the sands of Glamis and other dune areas. If you see him out in the dunes, get in line and try and keep up!
