Issac Armstrong

I met a young Marine by the name of Issac Armstrong, or otherwise known as "Offroad Wonder" to those on the off-road Nissan list. Whether it be over e-mails or long 3+hr phone conversations it's apparent that Issac off-roads with a different caliber. His choice has lead us to the Nissan Feature Vehicle of the month. A 1993 Nissan hardbody with more modifications than most Jeeps you see on the trails. Not a MasterCard wheeler, that's obvious. His modifications range from a simple body lift to a well-engineered suspension system consisting of Rancho shocks and custom leaf packs.
It's obvious after wheeling with Issac that his skills rank from years of Marine service. Whether he's busting up a new Hummer or opening up a new tank his mind is on the sport and his vehicle shows it.
He originally bought his 93 Nissan used. Factory equipped with a set of 30" tires he wheeled it and found out on his first trip that 30's weren't gonna cut it. Mod after mod led him from 30" AT's to 30" Swampers to the now seen here 31x13.50" Swampers. Of course no TRUE wheeler would wheel nothing less than a swamper.

Trip after trip has lead this vehicles path. And like the driver the paths keep going on. He's cut the fenders, lifted the body, replaced the torsion bars and bent the crap outa the rear bumper. He's wheeled that's for sure. It's people like Issac and his Nissan Hardbody that make the sport it is. A man and machine fighting with mother nature to get beyond obstacles she puts in our way. With the Marine sense he has outfit his vehicle of choice to take on and go against or with mother nature to make it through some of the toughest obstacles she can put in front of him.
He's broken tie-rods, to torsion bars and still comes back to fight, more often than any of Don King's clients, for another day. Trying to figure out the best combination for his terrain.
Recently the East Coast has lost another good wheeler. Issac has moved to Wisconsin where he will be wheeling a whole other terrain. As we cross-country wheelers have learned there are different terrain's to both coasts and different setups that work for them and in between. The Nissan Off-road.com staff wishes the best to Issac and his family, as he is one EC wheeler we will miss.
You will find some pictures of his unpaid wheeler of choice on this page and I must say it is one awesome vehicle to be placed up against in a game of "Follow the leader". Haven played myself against him I must say he has the sword of King Richard and even though it looks pretty stock he wheels it with the power of knights of years past.

Good luck Issac, the staff here is behind you and your conversion.
One thing I can say about Issac and his future mid-western competition is that on a recent trip he stood up a newer Toyota locked front and rear with tires Much larger than his. He was able to pull up and over the obstacles that claimed the Toyota's axle shaft. So to Issac I say "Wheel on" and let the past become your pride.
Future plans include a solid axle swap, which he has already, X-link suspension, 38" Swampers and more clearance. Best of luck to Issac and his truck as they depart on a new journey down life's pass...

This is one vehicle to watch for on the Wisconsin/Minnesota shores. With the front Dana 44 swap in the future and 5.13 gears he will be one force to be reckoned with and a happy Nissan wheeler!
BTW: The reason Issac is moving to Minnesota is because he has served his time in the Marines and is on his way home. The reason Issac deserves to be honored in a featured vehicle is not because of what he drives but how he does it. He is a driver with a passion, a passion for the sport and for Nissan's. An outspoken person in the midst of extremist and a person who has delivered himself from novice to experienced through his dedication in wheeling and wheeling a Nissan Hardbody for which there is no real modifications for. A true wheeler in the sense he will pick up and fill his truck bed with garbage and at the same time instruct novices and experts alike in spotting. A true wheeler in the sense it doesn't take a whole-lotta cash to make a good truck, all it takes is a good driver with the sense to understand the environment. A true wheeler, Issac Armstrong, who has taught us all who has wheeled with him that it takes dedication and commitment to make something out of nothing and to take on the levels of Fourwheeling to a higher dimension. To Issac we solute you in your stake to the United States and the future of wheeling, keep up the good work!
