Baja, California: ORC's Desert Tank just crossed the 75,000 mile mark utilizing what we belive to be the best in high-performance transmission performance...ATS Diesel Performance !

With miles-and-miles of incredible off-road abuse, the ATS Diesel Performance transmission has withstood the test of what we believe is absolute carnage.

We've towed the 40' race hauler up the steepest hills in the hottest conditions loaded to the extreme and we've raged through the desert and Baja Peninsula at maximum speeds and the transmission temperature gauge barely moves.

Recently, a well-known industry representative of a billion dollar tire company co-drove in the Desert Tank for a week of off-road adventure. While blasting along towing a small but heavy off-road trailer, my co-driver questioned the possibilty that the transmission gauge was broken because it read less than 140 degrees after driving in a long 12-mile deep sand wash. He intently watched the transmission gauge and later said, "That's just plain incredible."

He later recounted that in his 35 years of the off-road industry experience, he'd never seen a transmission perform as the ATS Diesel Performance Transmission performed under those conditions. Pushing The Desert Tank weighing in a 11,000 pounds and towing a 3000 pound trailer through the deep sand washes for long periods of time was an incredible feat.

Here we are in the mountains of Colorado one week and the next week on the red rock of Utah and the week after we were in Baja for a 1000 mile off road adventure!

Another ATS Diesel Performance Rescue

Ted Grady and his wife were heading from Vernal, Utah to Moab, Utah and were cutting across the high mountains of Colorado. The unexpectedly ran into some serious problems after they began their descent down from Douglas Summit. Situated at some 9000 feet, they started down the hill in their 99 Dodge Ram stock truck with a new 30' enclosed trailer loaded with a competition professional rockcrawling Jeep inside.

Not long after this photo of Ted waving to us, he fried his stock brakes on the descent. He DID get almost stopped and we watched in horror as they nearly plopped over the side of the mountain road with this nearly unstoppable truck and trailer.

As he got stopped we arrived in the Dodge Ram ORC Desert Tank and put the heavy ladended trailer on the ATS/ORC Desert Tank. Each tire in the competition rockcrawler was loaded with 500lbs of water for stability while in competition and the trailer was loaded with all the gear for a month on the road. Parts, wheels, tires, tools and his wife's clothes...say no more.

Once loaded we engaged the ATS installed Cummins PacBrake and didn't touch the brake all the way down the hill over 40 miles to I-70. In fact, we had to check a few times to see if Ted and his stock Dodge Ram were back there behind us somewhere. Once we hit I-70 we put the ATS Stage IV trans and ATS installed Edge Comp box to work as we pulled hill after hill without even a heavy breath.

We blasted by Mr. Ford and his home on wheels like he was standing still. As he powered up and started to bellow black smoke we mashed the pedal and left him in the dust.

If you have any reason to doubt the high-performance and quality of ATS Diesel Performance, think again. We continue to abuse our ATS Diesel transmission and it continues to amaze us wherever we are.

Moab Valley and the Colorado River

The ATS installed Cummins PacBrake has been one of the best performance upgrades we've made as of yet. Clint at ATS said, "This will change your driving style." And it has! With the ability to haul the heaviest loads straight down hill and not touch the brakes is just another feature that ATS Diesel Performance has incorporated in their systems. Combined with a well-designed and engineered torque converter and the ATS Torque Commander, we are able to set the speed that we want to travel downhill. Just another excellent option that ATS Diesel Performance has perfected!!!
