High Capacity
Transmission Pans
Ford E4OD & 4R100

The Mag-Hytec pan is like a cool Olympic sized pool compared to Ford's puny hot tub
.

Still been towing with your truck since the last installment? Bet you have...

Stepped up an gotten a high capacity transmission pan to protect those giga-buck tranny components? Bet you haven't...

Above 300° clutches and seals burn, transmission metals warp and distort.

A couple months ago we talked about what the high temperatures of towing can do to your rear end gears. And the expensive bills that can follow...

I don't need to tell you that a catastrophic failure on an automatic overdrive transmission will have a price tag exceeding $3000-$5000 bucks. If you neglected to opt for that Extended Service Plan when you bought your baby, or the plan has expired, you're in deep financial trouble if your tranny spatters itself all over that 7% grade on the way to your favorite camping spot.

Just like the rear end gears we covered previously, the only way to keep your transmission happy is by running high quality lubricants, and lots of them. And they way to keep them bathed continuously in buckets of cool red goo is the same...

Cast from high strength A356T6 aluminum with integral cooling fins and powder coated, theses pans not only are stronger then stock, but look great.

The engineers at Mag-Hytec have the solution again. They have designed a full line of high capacity trans pans to fit most OEM applications. Cast from high strength A 356-T6 aluminum, Mag-Hytec pans feature increased lubricant and cooling capacity, and are equipped with a magnetic drain plug, 1/8 NPT temperature sender fitting and large, cast in cooling fins for increased surface area/heat dissipation. Drain plugs are MS 33649 and fitted with AS 568 O-rings, as is the pan itself, which requires no sealants or additional gaskets. All hardware is stainless steel, and the pan is texture-powder coated in black with contrasting machined cooling fins.

Just a few of their well thought out features...

  • Routine fluid changes without removing the pan

  • Magnetic drain plug

  • All stainless steel hardware included

  • Finned aircraft aluminum casting

  • 303 stainless steel hardware

  • 1/8 NPT temperature sender port

  • 0-rings require no sealant or gasket*

  • Requires only two allen key wrenches (included) for servicing

  • Everything included for "do it yourself" service and installation

* Mopar 727 pan uses Mag-Hytec's Buna gasket.

The almost bottomless pan adds 16 quarts to the E4OD's capacity, almost tripling it! The AS-568 O-rings negate the need for messy sealants or expensive gaskets.

All required fasteners are included and are made from 303 stainless steel. Allen wrenches are also provided.

Draining an auto trans is more than an ugly, messy job. The drain plug makes it a breeze!

The magnetic grip of the drain plug is... obvious!

Located in Van Nuys, California, Mag-Hytec has a state of the art facility specializing in the development and production of these specific components. They are the best at what they do, period.

Mag Hytec's covers are easy to install and  the job can be done in an hour or so by any reasonably skilled shade tree mechanic with a modest set of hand tools.

However, the large amounts of fluid combined with the sloppy mess to get a stock pan with no drain plug off, I opted to seek out the professionals at Team Ford in Las Vegas to do the install. They handle all my services and repairs that are covered under warranty, or that I'm too lazy or too busy to perform.

Steve Oligas, General Manager and Dealer Principle at Team Ford, is a long time desert racer, wrench bender and off-road friendly guy, as is all of his fine staff. If your truck has been "set up" for off-roading or heavy service, they can help you where other dealers may even refuse to work on your rig.

What you will need in addition to basic tools:

  • High quality gasket scraper

  • Foam sanding block

  • Flat mill smooth file

  • Steel or brass brush

  • in/lb torque wrench

  • ft/lb torque wrench

  • Large supply of clean lint free rags

  • Drain pan and proper container(s) for disposal of used lubricants

  • Proper lubricant (Mag-Hytec recommends LE 1107 Mercon and can supply this with your order)

  • New transmission filter

Note: As with any product installation, follow the manufacturers instructions carefully.

Just like Mag-Hytec's differential covers their transmission pans are not just an accessory...

They are a required component for the high stresses and high temperatures encountered in high performance applications such as off roading and towing. They will save you thou$ands in repairs.

A secret Ford Motor Company insider has also informed me that selected 2002 Super Duty's may be equipped from the factory with this pan. What does that tell you?

Fit, finish, construction, materials and supplied hardware were all well above my expectations. Everything included is the best available. Mag-Hytec should be proud of this product, it is one of the finest we have ever tested! Installation was simple, and the directions easy to understand.

Mag-Hytec has pans for these applications:

  • Ford E4OD, 4R100

  • GM 4L80E

  • Mopar 727

  • More applications are under development, if you don't see yours, please call!
