ARB's Bull Bar bumper for the Samurai is a great addition to your rig. For those with no fabrication skills, or those off-roaders who don't choose to construct their own bumper, the ARB Bull Bar provides a good-looking, well-made, functional addition. ARB has designed a product that most die-hard custom fabricators would find hard to beat.

Bumper side viewThe bumper is heavy-gauge steel plate and tubing, formed and welded. I found the welds to be neatly done without gaps and sputters. Finish is a powder-coat semi-gloss black. Measured thickness of the steel forming the plate sections of the bumper was .010" (3mm), although different thicknesses appear to be used at various points, depending on the strength required. Overall dimensions are approximately 56" x 21" x 10" (142cm x 53.4cm x 25.4cm) overall width x overall height x depth to the outer point of the fairlead mounting loops, excluding the bumper's mounting brackets. The bumper and Bull Bar provide excellent protection for the front of the vehicle.

Almost everything you need is included. The only additional hardware I found necessary were the small bolts required to replace the factory screws to mount the factory turn signals. Tabs are provided for mounting auxiliary lights and a bracket is provided for remounting a front license plate.

The Bull Bar has mounting points that fit the Samurai frame ends and factory stock bumper-tube ends. Mounting is easily accomplished, ARB provides bolts with the heads angled properly to fit perfectly in the Samurai's odd-shaped frame ends. Assuming you don't want to make any modifications to strengthen the vehicle's mounting points; all you'll need to do is remove the factory turn signals from your factory bumper, remove the old bumper, mount your winch (if you have one) bolt the ARB into position and remount the turn signals.

With the help of Gary Munck at Petroworks Off-Road Products, I modified my installation to account for the fact that I'd removed the factory bumper-tube ends (which required removing two brackets from the Bull Bar). We also added components to strengthen Suzushi's factory mounting points. The result was an extremely rugged installation that looks great!
