Chevy/GMC 4x4 Readers Rides

Oct. 01, 2000 By ORC STAFF

Andy Jones 1983 K5 Blazer
The paint and body work was done by Andy and a few friends last summer(GM White and Dodge Viper Blue). It has a rebuilt 305 with an RV cam and K&N filter but otherwise stock, exaust is sent through a flowmaster with dual 3 inch pipes tucked up next to the gas tank and turned down exiting the rear.

700R-4 tranny and 208 t-case(offroaddesigns doubler in the future). The factory top has a custom roof rack finished in Viper Blue that holds a spare and two Hella 500 driving lights. It has a Rancho four inch lift(soon to change to tuff country front leaves and offroaddesigns rear shackle flip) RS5000 shocks(9000s soon).

The 10 bolts were chucked in favor of a dana44 and 12 bolt both with 4:56 gears, the rear has a lock-rite locker(which will be upgraded to Warn's full floater kit). 35 inch BFG muds on 15*10 chrome mod wheels. The front fenders have been trimmed front and rear for tire and rock clearance. The front bumper was made by a friend and Andy will be modifying it soon so that it is closer to the body and he's getting rid of the bottom tubes for rock clearance, complete it with skid plates and two more Hellas(fog).

The interior is pretty much stock with the exception of a leather Grant steering wheel with polished spokes, a pioneer cd player with kenwood and pioneer speakers and an autometer tach. Not too bad for a 21 year old in college! Andy's next endeavor is a rear bumper(KMA) and more fender trimming.
