Norman Motorsports Fundraiser Benefits San Diego, Cruz Roja Youth

Dec. 08, 2010 By Press Release
RENO, NV - Roger and Elise Norman opened the Norman Motorsports race shop on Saturday evening to a holiday party benefiting South Bay Community Services Foster Youth of San Diego & The Red Cross of Baja, Cruz Roja.  “I always enjoy having my family, friends and race buddies here at the shop,” said Roger Norman.  “It is rewarding to be able to host an event that has such an impact on the local community, and the Baja communities that we race in.”

In a special presentation, Fran Muncey, Roger Norman’s mother, was honored by the South Bay Community Services with an announcement that a new apartment building will be named in her honor. “Fran has done a lot of stuff, and given a lot of money, but probably the most special thing she does is every Christmas Eve she takes the kids shopping and to dinner.  We have decided as an organization that the new (apartment) building that we purchased will be named after Fran,” said Kathie Lembo.  Fran Muncey was shocked and honored, and responded by saying, “I felt so bad when I found out that 80% of kids who age out of foster care either end up on the streets, in prison or dead after two years, and it just broke my heart.  That is why I am so proud to be a part of this and help raise money for these kids.”

The evening was holiday festive with incredible Christmas decorations done by Elise Norman. Appetizers, entrees, wine, charity gaming, dancing and live music made the evening terrific.  Among the guests were Governor of Nevada Jim Gibbons, Reeves Callaway III of Callaway Cars West and the 2010 FIA GT3 European Champion, Gene Locklear a former San Diego Padre and exclusive artist, and Yves Moritz the owner of Stand 21.  Supporting Norman Motorsports in their very successful 2010 Trophy Truck Racing Season spanning 15 International Races were marketing partners Bill Black from Fire Etc., Joe Biro from VisionX, Roger Malcomb from Composite Materials Inc and Doug Fortin a two time overall Baja 1000 winner.  Malcomb and Fortin were both the high bidders for the evening in a live auction for vacation packages to Crystal Bay Casino in Lake Tahoe.

The Auction had hundreds of dollars worth of great Christmas Present ideas including gift baskets with everything from dinners, to trips, to jewelry, to health and beauty gift certificates, to high profile collectible sports and music memorabilia.  The auction also included donations from Norman Motorsports, Crystal Bay Casino in Lake Tahoe, BFGoodrich Tires, Vision X Lights, KMC Wheels, Mastercraft and Azunia Tequila.  Norman Motorsports shop has been featured on Baja Garages on the Outdoor Channel and in Dirt Sports Magazine.
