It's Not Easy Being "Green"

Back around December, I was spending WAAAAAY too much time on newsgroups like alt.org.earth-first & talk.environment, arguing with the eco-holier than thou crowd. While I knew full well I'd never make any headway with these people, it served as an invaluable learning experience for me.

Howdy folks! A few introductory remarks are in order. The following is not a recommendation for any particular handload, black powder or otherwise. As you get familiar with the 'method' of loading black powder, you will see why all loads are unique to the loader and their particular reloading components, equipment, etc. All shooters must accept responsibility for the risks inherent in shooting and handloading, and learn everything they can about their equipment and safe loading procedures. Make sure you know what you are doing before you try any type of loading, black powder or otherwise, and always use equipment that has been certified by a competent gunsmith as safe. And, always wear eye and ear protection!

BLM OHV STRATEGY DRAFT

It's not the document we feared. Let's get that out of the way right off the bat. No, it's not perfect, but then again, what ever is? Recently, Off-Road.com was invited to attend the video/teleconference held at BLM Field offices throughout the country on the new OHV Strategy draft, and by and large, we came away with a good feeling. In a nutshell, the draft creates no new rules and regulations, but rather reorganizes and attempts to make sense of the many regulations already in effect - but never truly implemented.

Those who have been closely following the CNN "Wilderness" poll know that just a few short weeks ago, the pro-land rights / outdoor recreationalist Americans were up against a radically liberal media outlet, with a poll designed to "prove" most Americans wanted "more" wilderness.

Rough Roads - and Big Hearts

Give an off roader a reason to ride - and he (or she) is out the door. On the weekend of February 4-6, a special run for muscular dystrophy, "Off Road for Hope II 2000" was held at the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area and was wondrously successful.
