Why are these men smiling? They just closed the deal on the FIRST US SHIPMENT of the Kiddi Moto push bikes! On the left is William Lawson Jr of ScooterSports in Phoenix AZ, center is Simon Booth, owner, inventor and mfg of the toy, and Jesse Roth, the US distributor. Just 45 minutes into the show, Lawson came into the booth and said "sign me up for a half-dozen!" So if you want the first one in your neighborhood, get ahold of him quick at ScooterSports.com . If you aren't in Arizona and can't wait to have one shipped, check out Kiddimotousa.com and find a new dealer near you. We love 'em. "Feet Fast at 100 Smiles Per Hour" The Kiddi Moto comes in several models - the Scrambler, the Superbike, and the all-important "Heroes" line. Your little racer-to-be can have a replica of bikes ridden by Grand Prix Motorcycle racer Barry Sheene, Superbike racer James Roseland, Grand Prix rider Nicky Hayden, or Mike Hailwood. Made for kids 2-6 years old, they are light enough to pick up and pack around, but strongly constructed from birch plywood. They looked just about right for airplane carry-on to me! Retail $150 - $180.
Along that same line of "finally, something truly new..." What's this years hottest off-road toy (according to their marketing people...)? The new Bulldog R/C Rider, by 3Z Scale International. It's a RC monster truck; no, it's a ride-on ATV; no, it's both! With 8 coil-over shocks and ultra wide track, it looks like big kids and small to medium sized adults could easily have a blast. The tag may seem a little steep at about $2,300, but we know some people that have a garage full of RC helicopters at that price! Check 'em out at Global-Powersports.com 50" long and 24" high, these aren't just crash-em and thrash-em toys; they weigh 195 pounds, use the same hardened steel axles that "real" ATVs use. Automatic transmission, adjustable chain drive, 110 cc 4-stroke electric start engine. Yeah, they're the real deal. The only little tidbit of information we weren't as thrilled to hear is that they are indeed manufactured in China... However, product designers/developers from Global Power Sports, based in Phoenix, personally went over and BOUGHT the factory that will be building them, spent a month training the management and putting in place the product standards that were acceptable. As they come to the US, they will launch shortly with a brank new 20,000,000 (that's twenty million) square foot manufacturing facility. Yeah, they are serious about this.
Some eye candy was laid out on a platter for the big boys at the Dealer Show too - and then it strutted off that platter and down the stairs and over to another platter. The Girls of Flaunt strutted for an attentive audience, modeling the GearUp line from Bitchin' Apparel. Ladies that want to look stylin on and off their bikes can shop for a whole host of tops, jackets, pants, capris, jackets, etc, in the appropriate "girlie" colors. Flaunt will be taking the stage throughout the weekend to show off some of the more curvacious lines of powersports riding and casual wear from several manufacturers. If you missed the show, or were too distracted to write down your order, you can still check out the product line at GearUp.LA.
And on a more-seriious note (got your attention now though, don't we?), Gibson Exhaust made their first appearance at Indy, with a strong showing of exhausts for the popular side-by-side market. Whether your ride is a Yamaha Rhino 660 or 700, Polaris Ranger or RZR or Kawasaki Teryx, they got you covered. You know their name in the trucks & SUV world; now they'd like to throw some performance and horsepower at your UTV! The guys from Gibson are enthusiasts themselves for sure, so what they build is what off-roaders are asking for, and also what they personally have found "heck, I sure wish there was..." Gibson claims you'll see a gain of 5 horsepower for the Rhino 700 with the Suspended Flow (SFT) muffler, and a substantial 7 horses for the Kawasaki Teryx v-twin. More to come tomorrow; today is a little light in the Off-Road.com content world, as most of the Lucas Oil Stadium exhibitors that are open on Friday fall into the 2Wheel Tuner world, or import scooters.bikes, etc. Most of our goodies will be on display tomorrow, in the main convention center. Stay tuned! We took a sneak peek, and they are busy unwrapping, unpacking, hanging, hammering and slaving away to get it all ready by 9 am tomorrow. Some exhibitors have more work to do than others....
