On October 3-5, the 2008 Off-Road Expo, presented by Toyota, storms into Pomona, California. The show features new vehicles, parts, accessories and demonstrations. There are also several events that are worth checking out. If you aren’t too busy with the Off-Road.com Girls, make your way over to the Toyota Ride and Drive. Attendees 18 and older are able to test three specific vehicles where it counts – on the dirt! Off-Road.com is here to offer you more information on these exciting off-road vehicles: Toyota FJ Cruiser First put in production in 2006, the FJ Cruiser has since then become a staple in the off-roading community. In fact, by May of 2007, Toyota was selling more Cruisers than its entire line of Hummers combined! With a 4.0L V6 that produces 239 horsepower at 5,200 rpm, it is a premiere off-road vehicle. It also boasts an impressive 19.4 mpg in traffic, despite weighing in at almost 4,300 pounds. The FJ Cruiser also has excellent steering, handling and cornering ability. Toyota Tacoma No one can deny it – the Toyota Tacoma is a stylish midsize truck. Tailored to the “outdoor” crowd, the Tacoma offers extensive storage space and a 159-horsepower 2.7 liter DOHC four-cylinder engine. Its clean appearance sets it apart from other midsize trucks and can be adapted to off-roading as well as city life. The remarkable braking and wide wheelbase dimensions also provide the Tacoma with great off-road ability. Toyota Tundra Yes, it was named the 2008 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. More importantly, the Toyota Tundra is the ultimate off-road machine. The full-size pickup offers 44 model variations in three cab styles. It is also available in 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains and a 381-horsepower i-Force 5.7L V8 engine. Also, as part of the Toyota STAR SAFETY SYSTEM, it is one of the most technologically advanced trucks in the full-size category. Toyota is letting you give each one of these vehicles a whirl at the upcoming Off-Road Expo. Whether you prefer smaller rides like the Tacoma or full-size vehicles like the Tundra, you’re sure to enjoy yourself on our exciting off-road course!
