Press Release

  • February 2006  •

Las Vegas, NV, (February 9, 2006) – OLN, the home of field sports’ finest, today unveils a brand-new, state-of-the-art booth at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas that includes a fully operational television studio (outdoor exhibit tent #21029). Featuring five plasma screens, including a 60-inch screen at the entrance as well as Hi Def capabilities, the booth was designed to highlight all of OLN’s premier field sports programming and serve as a remote studio throughout the SHOT Show. OLN talent, including Tred Barta, host of The Best & Worst of Tred Barta and Ted Nugent, internationally acclaimed recording artist, American sporting legend and host of OLN’s top-rated show Wanted: Ted or Alive, will be on hand to film segments that will air as part of OLN’s Friday prime time field sports programming block, Autozone’s Fridays in the Wild.

Highlights from OLN’s four days on the convention floor include:

Tred’s “Seal of Approval” (Thursday, 3:30–5:30 p.m.): Tred Barta examines new products being introduced at the SHOT show. Call him "old school," but in Tred's world, newer isn't always better. Technology does not necessarily mean advancement. Tred will examine products that help a true sportsman push himself in the quest for the perfect hunt. What new products will receive Tred’s “seal of approval”?

Ted Nugent’s “Reflections from Camp Nuge” (Friday 12:30–2:30 p.m.): Ted fondly recollects the people and issues from the production of cycles 1 and 2 of his show, Wanted: Ted or Alive. Former contestants Bridgetta, Will and Carl will join Ted to share their stories and have one last chance to confront the Nuge.

“Ask Ted” (Friday 2:30–5:30 p.m.): SHOT Show attendees are invited to come to the OLN booth to ask Ted’s views on hunting, politics, rock 'n' roll and life itself. Ted’s wife Shemane will be there to field questions from the audience and keep Ted honest. Apparently the Nuge has a few opinions to share.

“Beat Tred Barta” (Saturday 2–5:30 p.m.): Show attendees will have the opportunity to enter their names in a drawing to go head-to-head against Tred on a high-tech virtual reality, multi-player Laser Shot Shooting Simulator, provided by Laser Shot. Contestants who beat Tred on the simulator will win $100 from the man himself. Tred’s got the cash, if they’ve got the mettle.

“Inside the SHOT Show” (see schedule): Mike Rogers, host of SCI's Expedition Safari on OLN, will host segments from the OLN studio highlighting some of the new products and interesting personalities from the show. Ron Spomer, one of the featured hunters on OLN's upcoming series Whitetail Xtremes, will be on the SHOT Show floor, talking to exhibitors and attendees about the latest news and trends in the hunting industry.
