Many will recognize this name. Rick is a
longtime motojournalist as the editor of Dirtbike Magazine, and the
racing editor at Off-Road Magazine. Rick is also the author of a new
book titled "Monkeybutt",
which superbly covers the glory days of off-road motorcycling.
Rick's insight, enthusiasm and literary talent are a
mainstay of the Off-Road Motorsports Community.
Tony Tellier, a native of Eastern
Washington State, has been an Arizona resident since 1968. Tony was
awarded the SCORE Journalist Of The Year award in 1993 and is a
member of the Checkers Off Road Racing Team. He covers Arizona
off-road events for Dusty Times and other publications.
He has run over thirty marathons including the
Boston Marathon twice, climbed Mt. Rainier in 1990 and pre-runs and
pre-runs on a Suzuki DR four-stroke motorcycle.
He will be racing the 1996 SCORE season with the
James Gang "Outlaw" Class 5 championship team.

Norm presents a fresh, abstract
storyline. From "Hoppy, the Enviro Critical Hare" to
stories that depict the contrast in regions Norm has experienced as
an off-roader. His literary style is amusing and fun with titles
such as "bogus deepus" and "travelus maximus".
A mechanical engineer by trade, Mike
has been riding since the early 70's. Mike --> I remember the
Hodaka, and remember reading the first Dirt Bike issue. I raced a
little when I was a teenager, but really only discovered trail
riding when I moved to Idaho, in 1987.
30 years of 4wheeling, motorcycles
and dune buggies. Avid internet acitivist for keeping public lands
open and available. Active letter writer for causes ranging from
southern Utah (SUWA); to the CA. Desert Protection Act; to keeping
National Forests from closing roads. Founder of Friends of Death
Valley (dedicated to keeping roads open). Published outdoor writer
(currently most writings are to congress). Member of CA4WDC, United,
Tread Lightly!; and Blue Ribbon Coalition. Pet toy now is 82 CJ-7
with *all the goodies*, including fuel injection. Use 4x4 as a means
to sight-see, hunt and recreate with wife, Carolyn. Master's Degree
in Environmental Planning (ironic, huh?) Registered Professional
Forester's License in CA. Professional fire service manager now, Ca.
Dept. of Forestry.
Jerry is a true , seasoned Baja
veteran of the highest degree. Having traveled, raced and or
supported Off-Road racing in Baja since 1969, Jerry has an immense
knowledge of the magnificant Baja peninisula. His stories present an
personal experience of the simple, outback of Baja as well as the
excitement of the race from initial pre-run to wheels across the
finish line.
Jeff is a long time off-road
motorcyclist and internet regular on the rec.motorcycle.dirt Usenet Newsgroup. Jeff is also recognized for standing tall and
honest against the lying, environmental zeallots of the SUWA
(Southern Utah Wilderness Aliance) detailed superbly in his story
titled "Internet
Riders of the First Desert Uprising".
I was getting unbelievable traction,
wheeling in 3rd and 4th down the straights of the 1/4 mile oval,
leaving Nip discouraged with his straight in screw pattern, as I had
angled my screws forward and was "banging it sideways" and
hooking up coming out of the corners. We were the only brave souls
on the ice Saturday as it was 5 degree, -40 with the wind chill.
We spread our bags on the ground and gazed up at the full moon in a
perfect desert night. There was zero wind and the air temperature
was perfect. As we had climbed a couple of thousand feet the
humidity had ceased its oppression. As I drifted off to sleep I
smiled at the prospects before us on the journey.
Being new on the enduro scene I had
some preconceived notions on what to expect and how to behave. Some
advice that was offered was helpful, most was not. Example: Just
ride wide open after the first check. Everybody is always late after
that.
The last time we stopped at their
crumbled shack, they were gone. In fact, one could barely see where
the shack had been. The harsh unforgiving land had forgotten them.
