Time to Wake Up Redux
March 26, 2008 By: Brad Ullrich
Everyone that has been around the OHV community for more than a minute knows a story or stories about people recklessly driving or riding where it is prohibited or causing destruction to public land... |
 | NOHVCC Forest Service Route Designation Workshops
April 1, 2007 By: Brad Ullrich
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is under a mandate to complete their Travel Management Plans within the next couple of years. They are looking for public input in the process, specifically when it comes to Route Designation. But, unfortunately most of the OHV community is lost when it comes to working with the various government agencies that manage our public lands. |
WELCOME TO AL GORE'S "ENVIRONMENT DECADE" (THE NEW DARK AGES)
December 1, 2005 By: Brad Ullrich
With only a few weeks to go before the presidential election the race is still too close to call between Bush and Gore. But, from a motorized recreationalist's standpoint, the race was over before it even got started. Al Gore is by far the greatest threat to motorized recreation on our public lands?ever. Gore wasn't just the vice-president for the past eight years, he was the Clinton administration's "environmentalist in chief", as Jonathan Weisman put it in a recent article on Gore's record with the environmentalist community. He went on to say that Gore "helped stock the executive branch with trusted aides and leading environmentalists". |
The Roadless Conspiracy: Klinton's Illegal and Impractical Folly
December 1, 2005 By: Brad Ullrich
The Roadless Initiative is a farce. The only alternatives that make any sense are Alternative 1 of the Prohibition Alternatives, it calls for No Action and No Prohibitions and Alternative A of the Procedural Alternatives, it calls for No Action and No Procedures. Furthermore, this initiative does not work from a legal or practical standpoint. |

WE HAVE A LOT OF CATCHING UP TO DO!
December 1, 2005
By: Brad Ullrich
After reading a very interesting history of the wilderness movement from The Pew Wilderness Center titled "A Wilderness Forever Future-A Short History of the National Wilderness Preservation System" it was more obvious than ever why we generally have problems battling the the radical environmental movement. I didn't realize that the organized enviro movement started back in the 20s, and by the 40s into the mid 50s it was very strong and organized. The passage of the Wilderness Act actually was the culmination of years of hard work by many zealots, with a core group that worked day and night for years. |
THE GROWING CONTROVERSY BETWEEN "FAIR CHASE HUNTING" AND OHV ASSISTED HUNTING
December 1, 2005 By: Brad Ullrich

Off-Road.com
In the December issue of High Country News there was an article about "fair chase hunting" called "Motorized Plan is Stuck in Reverse" by John Adams. My initial impression of the article was that here's another anti-OHV blast from a Sierra Club or TWS member. So, I went to HCN's "Talk Back" forum and gave the few posts that supported the view in the article my usual anti-GAG rhetoric about get a life and complain about something that really needs complaining about like Klinton's abuse of the Antiquities Act. Several weeks went by,I had more or less forgotten about the article when I received an e-mail from a rather upset fair chase hunter (rather upset is an understatement as you will see from his e-mail). My eyes are now open, very wide, and I have come to see that there is a problem on more than one level with this issue. |
BYE AL, FROM FOUR CORNERS, USA
December 1, 2005 By: Brad Ullrich
It's over Al. Grow up and get over it. Face it, you won't be able to carry on the Klinton "legacy". You won't be able to lock up more acreage in the west by abusing federal law. You won't be able to outlaw the internal combustion engine to make us drive water or battery driven four bys, ATVs and dirt bikes. You won't be able to make decisions concerning our environment and public lands behind closed doors with your extreme "environmentalist" friends. You won't be able to "reduce our reliance on technology" that gives us the high quality of life we have in the United States. You won't be able to conspire with the UN to take away our sovereignty and make us part of the "global community". You won't be able to take away the people's right to bear arms. So, just go away and bother someone else, but, I don't wish you back upon the people of Tennessee either. They don't need a selfish, power hungry ego-maniac any more than the people of the entire country do. |
