Rough Roads - and Big Hearts

Give an off roader a reason to ride - and he (or she) is out the door. On the weekend of February 4-6, a special run for muscular dystrophy, "Off Road for Hope II 2000" was held at the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area and was wondrously successful.

I'm out wheeling on a mountain trail, the same trail I've been cruising for 25 years. The sky is a brilliant blue and I'm surrounded by enormous pines. Ferns and wildflowers dapple the undergrowth. The beauty is breathtaking as I wind around an outcropping of broken granite slabs and boulders. I hit the brakes coming to a stop in front of a monstrosity of mankind. The thing is blocking the trail with its imposing presence. I get out to take a closer look.

The Red Rock 4Wheelers are sharing their Safari this year with off-road groups that want to give you a chance to FIGHT BACK! on public land use issues. The Utah 4-Wheel Drive Association and the Land Use Network are going to do this 7pm Thursday night, April 1st, during the event with a hard-hitting Land Use Forum. The event will include raffle prizes provided by several of our sponsors.
