About two weeks ago I posted to the list the fact that my '95 RR County Classic had the squeaky steering wheel, and that my dealer had the part fix on back-order, asking if anyone knew of a lubricating fix to the problem. In response I received the following:

Which prompts me to ask... a lockable rear diff must help in mud and snow. You'd need to get three wheels stuck then so ruts wouldn't pose the same problem (maybe I should just learn to drive properly...). So does anyone make one, and is it _really_ such a good idea?

The Land Rover Owner mailing list ( Majordomo@Land-Rover.Team.Net) is now a sophisticated software package that maintains archives of the e-mail activity. This was not always so. Some of the earlier digests are collected here (the old fashioned way, by hand).

A local ship chandler, Paxton Co., sells 8' lengths. I think the double tracks are about $20, less for the single. If you can figure how to ship them (does UPS do 8'?) their number is 804-853-6781. I gave Bruce at British Rovers their number and he was going to order 100 pieces (the minimum wholesale order direct from the mfg.) and cut 'em up into proper lengths, but I don't know if he has done so.
