While searching for something to do my final project for my Artificial Intelligence class, Ben was busy getting the RoverWeb up and running. I glanced thru one the FAQ pages and realized that it was hard to figure out what kind of Land Rover I was looking at. In other words, there were many more kinds of Land Rovers than I had previously realized. So here was the idea for my final project: Build an Expert System that would ask questions and figure out what kind of Land Rover the user was looking at. Of course, I didn't want to type the answers to the various questions, and I wanted to put it on the Web to help Ben out. So here is the Web version of the Identa-Rover program. Enjoy!

I recently developed a problem with my '95 Disco (the first real problem in 14K miles) that required dealer intervention. The problem was a brief engine stumble or cutout whenever the throttle was eased after cresting gentle hills or when running on flat terrain at 70 MPH or so. It happened with or without the cruise control operating, and with or without the OD engaged. The engine would immediately resume normal operation, but the vehicle would lurch noticeably as everything caught back up with itself. Duncan Brown tells me that this is normal behavior for his 1960 Series IIa, but I was not thrilled with it happening to my Disco given the upcoming holiday weekend and some planned travels around the mid-Atlantic.

I've been watching this thread on spring bushing replacement and thought I should weigh in on the subject as I just replaced all of mine. To put it bluntly, there is an easier way to do it. It just has one small catch, you need to have access to an air compressor.

The primary attraction of any Land-Rover gathering is the vehicle itself. The Mid-Atlantic was no exception. There were numerous Series Rovers, Defenders, Range Rovers and Discoverys. There were also some Rovers of special interest, even to those who own several of Solihull's finest.
