While searching for something to do my final project for my Artificial Intelligence class, Ben was busy getting the RoverWeb up and running. I glanced thru one the FAQ pages and realized that it was hard to figure out what kind of Land Rover I was looking at. In other words, there were many more kinds of Land Rovers than I had previously realized. So here was the idea for my final project: Build an Expert System that would ask questions and figure out what kind of Land Rover the user was looking at. Of course, I didn't want to type the answers to the various questions, and I wanted to put it on the Web to help Ben out. So here is the Web version of the Identa-Rover program. Enjoy!

Carb icing has been around from the beginning based on the service bulletin below (From The Series One Club Newsletter, 9/95). The bulletin indicates crankcase ventilation can contribute to icing, which suggests that a malfunctioning PCV system may be a culprit.

When the RoverWeb was in Missouri, the Club List in the FAQ was here. It isn't anymore. The Editor and main author of the FAQ is part of OVLR, so the FAQ is on the OVLR site. But don't despair, I'll put links from here to there. Please update your links to the FAQ. If you followed someone else's link, please send them email with the update information.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but here's some data on alternators from a handy little booklet called "Lucas Fault Diagnosis Service Manual" - a freebie given out to registrants at the '94 All-British Field Meet in Portland, Oregon, USA.

For our North American netters, Craftsman (Sears Roebuck & Co.) has a free "club" you can join for discounts and coupons on Craftsman tools. Call 1-800-682-8691. It's an automated line and they'll ask for your name, address, and phone. The friend that turned me on to it said the discounts are pretty good.

Most Land-Rover events feature an off-road trials course. The ROAV decided to take things a little bit farther. The Aluminium Man Triathlon combined a tire-change race. (it was supposed to be shooting sporting clays but the insurance company panicked at the thought of Land-Rover Owners and live ammunition) the trials course, and wood chopping. The lowest combined time was the winner.
