If you think the nomination hearings for John Ashcroft as the next Attorney General will be bruising, just wait for the hearing when Gale Norton, president-elect Bush's choice for Interior Secretary, faces her opposition.

An Associated Press report on the negotiations that took place in Marrakech regarding the protocols of the UN's Kyoto Climate Control Treaty could not have been more inaccurate. The jubilant reporter, Arthur Max, reported that the two-week conference, conducted entirely in secret by representatives from 165 nations had achieved "hard-fought rules for implementing the 1997 Kyoto Protocol which calls on about 40 industrialized nations to limit carbon emissions or cut them to below 1990 levels."

Beyond the astonishing stupidity of starting a fire under conditions that guaranteed it would spread beyond control, I was most struck by Secretary of the Interior, Bruce Babbitt's response to the fact that people's homes were burnt to the ground. He denied any liability on the part of the National Park Service. Lost everything you own? Not our fault. Meanwhile, a number of other fires were burning in other Southwestern States, but you probably will not hear about them.

The "Una-writer?" Feb 2001 It's Not Easy Being Green Having trouble with"Environmentalists?" The Art of War Applied - Part 1 By Norm Lenhart War is hell. A great man uttered those words long ago, and they will always ring true. War is something that no sane person ever wants, yet it's something in which many sane people have found themselves enmeshed from the dawn of time.

Considering all the slamming I have done thus far on the screwed up state of affairs that we call "California", it will likely come as a shock to a lot of people that I just moved there. Some say I'm out of my mind. Some say I've been sniffing way too much race gas.
