A check in the amount of $5,000 as a donation to the United Four Wheel Drive Associations was received from the Tierra del Sol Four Wheel Drive Club of San Diego. The check represents income from the annual Tierra del Sol Desert Safari 4x4 event.

Some background..

Tierra del Sol is a 50-family member club of four-wheel drive enthusiasts based in San Diego, CA. We have been sponsoring the Tierra del Sol Desert Safari since 1962 and are looking forward to Desert Safari 45 in 2007. Desert Safari has grown into the largest 4x4 event in the nation and draws people from across the nation to the southern California desert for a weekend of 4x4 activity.

As the income from Desert Safari is from the 4x4 community, this is the club.s way to put critical funding back into the 4x4 community. Our club believes that continued access to recreation opportunities is only possible through strong coalitions protecting access to recreational opportunities and promoting responsible recreation.  

To that extent, Tierra del Sol donates about $30,000 a year to clubs and associations in support of trail maintenance, legal actions, and expenses incurred protecting and promoting responsible recreation activities.
