Off Road Expo ? Salt Lake City, UT (Sensational
Saturday)
This is the first year of the Off Road Expo expansion.
Salt Lake City is the first city to get a taste of the already successful
Off Road Expo in Pomona, CA. The locals were very excited to have an off
road only show that focused on their favorite pastime. For many, this is
the first time they have attended any type of off road show. For others
that have attended shows, it was a real treat to finally have one in the
Salt Lake area.
Local Off Road Retailers and Installers were happy to see
some of the big manufacturers come out and help them market their products
and services. Among some of them were Toyota Motor Co., NITTO Tires,
4Wheel Parts, Tuff Country Suspension, Banks Power, MasterCraft Seats,
Donahoe Racing, Interco Tire, and many, many more.

Just a week after the Easter Jeep Safari, and just in time
for tax season?off roaders were in the house wheelin? and dealin?.
Gathering information on the latest off road products and making plans for
their next project or purchase?you could see smiling show goers walking
around. This show truly had a little of everything, from Jeeps and ATVs,
to Sand Rails and the finest off road products in the industry.

Some manufacturers with new products came to the Off Road Expo to let
the consumers know what great things they have for them. One of these
companies is FAB FOURS out of Durango, CO. FAB FOURS (FF) makes off road
bumpers and body accessories for Jeeps, Fords, and Dodge trucks. Most
notable was their new Dodge Ram MEGACAB outfitted with FF front and rear
off road bumpers. These new trucks have only been available for a short
time, and already they are gaining ground fast. With the added room the
Dodge MEGACAB has, it?s no wonder they are selling as fast as they
are. FAB FOURS is one of the first companies to have an application for
these trucks. Their front bumper incorporates HELLA Lights and mounting
points for either a WARN or Ramsey winch.
Some of the other exciting things going on at the Salt Lake City Off
Road Expo were the extreme sport exhibitions. Trial bike and Mountain
Board freestyle exhibitions were done through out the day. Action packed
and full of energy, both events were crowd pleasers. Trial bikes are
purpose built competition bikes; in this case a GasGas was the bike
being used. They are used for rock jumping, doing tricks, and all kinds
of other obstacle jumping. At the Off Road Expo they had an assortment
of ramps and a boxed trailer that incorporated steps, ramps, and other
obstacles that allowed for the trial bike rider to display his honed
skills and athletic ability. The tie with off road here is that
professional events for trial bikes are done off road, and many times in
areas that have natural rock formed obstacles.
Mountain boards are purpose built boards that have evolved
from skate and snowboarding. They, however, are designed to be used on the
dirt, rocks, and what ever other natural outdoor terrain you can throw at
it. With massive knobby tires, and boards similar to snowboards, these
athletes showed their stuff on a series of ramps and rails. Their launch
ramp was well over 30ft tall, so when they came down it they were moving
pretty good. This allowed them to take big jumps and catch major air.
Talking to the mountain boarders, we learned that when you actually do it
out in the dirt, it?s much more extreme and insane?sounds like a good
time!
