| For quite some time now, I've done my best to bring you all
the cold, hard realities about hate groups masquerading as
"Environmentalists". I've made it my goal in life to spread the word,
and hopefully snap the populace out of their apathy. It has thus far earned me
the enmity of said hate groups, a fumblingly loyal following on the internet
among the off-road / land use community, and a sense of satisfaction in that I
know that I'm helping to make a difference. For some of you, the name "Barry Clausen" may be
unfamiliar. Others will recognize him from his eternal battles with Earth
First!.... and they are legendary in the timber industry circles, I assure you.
In this month's "Being Green" column, I'd like to introduce you to the
big "C" himself, and welcome him to the pages of Off-Road.com. By joining editorial forces with Barry, we intend to lead
by example - building a network of land use / recreational / industry interests
to put an end to the blatant terrorism, abuse of the legal system, and
socio-communistic governing enabled by the current administration,.and carried
out by the so called "environmental groups" active in America today. It's time to stop making pathetic excuses for our
inaction. It's time for us all to get off our a$$ and do something other than
whine. It's time we give these sycophantic scum more grief than they ever hoped
to vest upon us. We allowed this situation to devolve to it's current state, now
it's up to us to put things right. That may not be what you wanted to hear, but
it's what you need to hear. Norm Lenhart

ECOTERRORISM Earth First Riot & the
Unabomber
My opinion - By Barry R. Clausen Copyright ? 1999 with permission. When Al Gore published his 1992 book Earth
in the Balance he probably had no idea or any intentions that his plan
to "reorganize society" to save the environment by "any
means" would in any way influence the actions of admitted Earth First
follower and convicted Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski. Yet Gore?s book was found
in Kaczynski?s cabin with underlined phrases and paragraphs following his
arrest. Another publication found in the cabin along with Gore?s book was the
"Litha" (June) 1993 edition of the Earth First Journal. Kaczynski
publicly admitted he used this when he decided to kill Thomas Mosser. The Litha Earth
First Journal Kaczynski referenced in his court testimony on January 28,
1998 contained the same typographical errors and inaccurate rhetoric as did his
letters to the press when he made reference to his bombing of Thomas Mosser. To this very day Gore?s doom and gloom outlook
on environmental issues is continually being amplified by radical extremists
like Earth First and Theodore Kaczynski. Recently, Gore was questioned by media
during an interview regarding his bid for the Presidency, when asked if he still
believed in what is contained within the covers of his book, his reply was, he
stands by every word. Katy McGinty, former head of the Executive Office
of the President?s Council on Environmental Quality had worked directly and in
concert with Vice President Al Gore for many years. Currently, McGinty is
working for the United Nations. U.S. Forest Service Federal Agent Bruce Gaynor
admitted there had been instructions from McGinty to leave Earth First
protesters alone according to Marilee Peay of the former Yellow Ribbon Coalition
in Eugene, Oregon. Peay?s statement has been substantiated by three other
Yellow Ribbon members who also attended the meeting with Agent Gaynor along with
Peay on July 16, 1997. Sources claim McGinty told U.S. Attorneys to leave the
radical extremists alone which subsequently allowed these lawbreakers to
illegally tear up and block a U.S. Forest Service road at Warner Creek near
Eugene. The Earth Firsters built a large wooden fort on the road and occupied
the structure for eleven months in order to stop a legal timber sale on U.S.
Forest Service managed land. McGinty, by allowing the illegal activities to
continue, may have had no idea her inaction would eventually facilitate in a
riot on June 18, 1999. The "riot" staged by the Anarchists of Eugene
and Earth First left eight police officers with minor injuries, police cars
severely damaged with large rocks, black hooded and masked terrorists broke
windows at a Taco Bell, Brenner?s Leather store, a branch office of U.S. Bank,
and the South Umpqua Bank. A half dozen bare-chested women in silver body paint
played drums and danced while spray painting anti-government and anti-industry
slogans on the streets while still others burned an American flag. Black hooded and masked terrorists surrounded a
car with a woman and her child inside as shown by photos appearing on the front
page of the Register Guard taken by photographer Brian Davies who caught
the action on film which appeared on the front page of the Guard on June
19th. The photos show
terrorist thugs jumping on the hood and top of the woman?s vehicle which
justifiably terrified the two occupants. Another photo shows a black hooded
rioter challenging a Eugene Police Department officer. When one gray-haired
motorist exited his vehicle to confront protesters, he was immediately
surrounded by the rioters who then gleefully smashed his car?s rear window. He
ran for his vehicle and drove away to the cheers of the crowd with one rioter
yelling "Either stop or we?ll beat the hell out of you." One of those identified in The Register
Guard story at the riot was Delyla Wilson of Earth First?s Bison Action
Group located in Bozeman, Montana. Wilson was convicted in a Montana State Court
on October 28, 1997 and in Federal Court on January 7, 1998 of assaulting
Montana?s Senator Conrad Burns, State Governor Mark Racicot and U.S. Secretary
of Agriculture Dan Glickman. During a public meeting Wilson threw a five gallon
bucket of entrails on the three officials and was subsequently charge.
Wilson?s husband Stanley was recently convicted of pieing Eugene?s Mayor Jim
Torrey. The riot was staged at the conclusion of two
days of meetings at the University of Oregon, in Eugene which were attended by
about 300 people from various groups. It was sponsored by the Northwest
Anarchist Conference and Gathering with the focus of the gathering centering on
how members of groups can protest the capitalistic system. The June, 1999
edition of the "The Insurgent", a radical left wing
publication used by such groups as Earth First and Animal Liberation
organizations, advertised for a "Global Street Party On June 18,
1999". The address and phone number of the Insurgent is listed as
Suite One EMU, University of Oregon Eugene, Oregon 97403-1228. A few listings of note in The Insurgent
under the heading of "Progressive Directory" include the following,
"Political parties - Communist Party of Oregon, The Greens - Lane County,
Freedom Socialist Party, Socialist Party of Oregon?." Found under
"All Things Green and Crunchy" one sees among others, "FSEEE -
Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics, Cannabis Liberation Society,
Southern Willamette Earth First, Many Rivers Group of the Sierra Club and SETA -
Student for the Ethical Treatment of Animals?." Glaring was the absence of statewide and
national press coverage of what was labeled a "Global street party" to
"reclaim the streets" by the rioters. Of the media present to cover
the riot, not one ever mentioned Earth First as one of the participating groups.
However, Oregon State Police intelligence documents issued prior to the event
states, "?anarchists have recently developed an alliance with Earth First
members." In addition Captain Thad Buchanan of the Eugene Police Department
stated, "The riot was heavily attended by environmental & animal rights
activists including people that contribute to the Earth First! Journal." One of those is Theresa Kintz who is not
merely a staff writer for the Eugene based Earth First Journal. She has
also publicly admitted she is one of the Anarchists of Eugene. Kintz was
featured in a New York Times article on September 20, 1998 supporting
those who had committed terrorist acts against ranchers near Casper, Wyoming.
Kintz was further featured in the Yule (December) 1999 edition of the Earth
First Journal in an article entitled "Fanning the Flames of
Resistance" praising the Earth Liberation Front for the $12 million
dollar arson fires at Vail, Colorado in October of 1998. Making the circle
complete, on February 24, 1999, Theodore Kaczynski sent a letter to Rick
Sallinger of Denver News 4 quoting from and supporting the Earth First article
featuring Kintz. Sallinger?s report contained the following
statements: "When it comes to Eco-terrorists Ted Kaczynski tops the list.
His 17 year Unabomber campaign took three lives and injured nearly a dozen
others. He?s now serving a life sentence at the federal prison known as Super
Max in Florence, Colorado. From there in a letter he wrote me about the arson
fires at Vail. ?I fully approve of it and I congratulate the people who
carried it out...? Kaczynski?s letter also referred to an article in a
recent edition of Earth First! The Radical Environmental Journal
[December/January 1999]. It?s entitled ?FANNING THE FLAMES OF RESISTANCE?.
Setting fire to a playground of the prosperous was a brave and eco-logical last
resort (no pun intended).? It contains a cartoon of a skier carrying a can of
gas and a molotov cocktail." It should be noted that in Federal Court on
January 22, 1998 Unabomber Kaczynski admitted he is an Earth First follower and
used the "Litha" 1993 edition of the Earth First Journal to
select targets when he decided to mail bomb innocent Americans. Kaczynski has
now become a hero to many as his radical rhetoric in support of additional
sabotage is published in the Earth First Journal, the Anarchist, The
Black-Clad Messenger and Live Wild or Die. He is also featured in the
Spring, 1999 edition of the GREEN ANARCHIST as a "Prisoner of
War." In my opinion, those fighting for their private property rights, for
their ability to recreate on public lands, for their rights to protect
themselves and what they?ve worked hard to achieve, are the real prisoners of
this radical war waged by the eco-elite in conjunction with Al Gore and Ted
Turner/Jane Fonda. CNN?s Ted Turner/Jane Fonda continue to
donate money to Earth First organizations through the Turner Foundation but do
they realize they have given a forum for Theodore Kaczynski to continue his
crusade of terrorism through his writings in the Earth First Journal? The
Journal boldly advocates anarchy, revolution and terrorism to the youth of
America. Do Turner and Fonda realize that by financially supporting the Ruckus
Society, founded by admitted saboteur Mike Roselle the co-founder of Earth First
they are allowing Earth First leadership to teach the youth of our country that
is acceptable to commit illegal acts through civil disobedience? Did Turner realize that the money he
contributed to Earth Firster Susan Shock of Gila Watch in Silver City, New
Mexico resulted in the eviction of Ranchers Kit and Sherry Laney from their
third generation ranch which just happens to be adjacent to the Turner Ranch?
Does Turner realize or even care that the July 5, 1999 demonstration by Earth
First at one of his Colorado neighbor?s, rancher Zachary Taylor, was made
possible by the money he contributed to Earth First? Do the foundations like the Turner
Foundation, Ben & Jerry Foundation (Ice cream) The W. Alton Jones
Foundation, which is run by Pete Myers a friend of Al Gores realize their money
is being used to support and promote the actions of these radical extremists?
Does Jane Fonda, Ted Turner, Pete Myers and Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry?s
realize their money is being used to help destroy the very foundation on which
our country was founded? "It's
Not Easy Being Green" - Article Index
