What Kind of Person Reads Time
Magazine?
Its not who you'd think...or is it?
Andy Warhol once said that everybody gets their 15 min. of
fame. It would appear that just recently I got mine - though I'll do my level
best to garner a min. or two more somewhere down the line. You see, The April 26
issue of Time Magazine had an article that included yours truly, and the very
site you're reading now - Off-Road.com. It's really kind of funny. There with "Star Wars -
The Phantom Menace" on the cover guaranteeing it the broadest possible
distribution and longevity, Time writer John Skow proceeded to not shoot, but
blast himself, his publication, and the entire so called "environmental
movment" in the foot. I couldn't be happier. After all, the Sierra Club and like minded "saviors
of the earth" have gone out of thier way to avoid the words "Off-Road.com"
or "Norm Lenhart" when refering to us either in print, or one of their
many "Sierra Club Action Alerts". Why? Because it validates us as a
very real threat to their eco-guilt powered empire. Now "Time",
supposedly one of the most "influential" and "progressive"
publications in the world, goes out and tells everybody exactly who we are. Rest assured, there were more than a couple copies thrown
around the rooms of a certain "environmental group's" multi-million
dollar offices. The cat got let out of the bag, it has big teeth, and refuses to
be de-clawed. In addition to the Star Wars coverage, this was Time's
"Earth Day" extravaganza with a full 4 (count'em) Four articles in a
grouping called "Heroes for the Planet / Earth Day Special" The
article in question appeared on pages 61-62 and was entitled "The Internet
- Lost in Cyberspace / The World Wide Web Offers Education, But Be Careful Where
You're Going" Editors note.... Isn't it intresting that with the planet in
such a terrible mess, that a movie - A MOVIE!!! - relagated the all important
"Earth Day" to second string story status? Both Hollywood and Madison
Avenue know a cash cow when they see it, and it looks like the buff and luster
of "Earth Day" has taken one hell of a dull sheen. In classic liberal propaganda fashion, Skow portrays the
so called "environmental" website "Envirolink" (exposed here
in Off-Road.com several months ago) as the victim of the Wise use Movement.,
while demonizing myself, Off-Road.com, the Blue Ribbon Coalition, Honda, Yamaha,
Ski-Doo, and Polaris, as the oppressors in question. Editors note..... Also ironic in the extreme is that despite
bashing the bones out of motorized vehicle mfgrs. during this, the holiest of
environmental hollidays, Time runs a full color ad for Chevrolet trucks on it's
back cover. Better still, the 4x4 Silverado is "off-roading" through a
logging site with several cords of fell timber in the background! Heads must
have rolled for that one. Wanna hear their "crushing blow", their
"best shot", that rapier piece of wit that would surely slay the evil
wise use dragon? Brace yourselves, this isn't for the faint of heart...... "The website is a click away from Blue Ribbon
magazine, another off-road lobbying outfit, sponsored by Honda, Yamaha, Ski-Doo,
and Polaris whose motto is "Preserving our natural resources FOR the public,
instead of FROM the public" Thud............ I'm sorry, reading that again just absolutely floors me.
This (snicker) "Journalist", obviously a product of Bill Clinton's
America, actually puts forth the BRC motto in an attempt to shame us! I gotta
ask.... Just how far removed from functional society do
you have to be to think that the statement .... "Preserving our natural
resources FOR the public, instead of FROM the public" ...is in any way a BAD THING that we will somehow
shrink in fear from? I won't even get into how far off his numbers were in
relation to ORC and Envirolink. However anyone with access to the internet and
see our rankings on www.alexa.com
. When I first read the article, I asked myself "Who in the name of God
would possibly buy into that?" Predictably enough, I got my answer not long after. Ladies
and gentlemen, for your amusement and astonishment tonight, I present one of
what is quite possibly the most mentally and linguisticly challenged people in
America. Oh, you may think that's just juvenile name calling, but I think I can
make the statement without too much stretching.........see below.

the reason I ask is that since you innitiated this conversation with your
little piece of hate mail, The staff of ORC and I are having considerable

To: <lenhart@mgci.com> "You're not the first Neanderthals in TIME magazine!
SO WHAT!!????? The only people that read your column are knuckle dragging
Neanderthals like yourself! You guys are a bunch of selfish, childish
whiners! What right do YOU have to go out and tear up public land!? People
like myself don't like the destruction you morons leave behind. I've seen
the erosion, torn up stream beds, tire ruts, spilled gasoline, antifreeze, etc.
Public land is just that, PUBLIC. But it should only be used by
responsible people that will leave it the way they found it, and try to save it
for future generations. I used to like 4X4s, and motor vehicles in general,
myself, but, I got smart. I learned to love the beauty of this planet, and I
stopped wanting to exploit it. I hate to look at the ugliness you a$$ho!es leave behind.
I don't condone the work of the "eco-terrorists," and I don't do any
of that myself, (well, not much). But, to me, they are the first line of
defense against you jerks. If you guys don't have a conscious, at least
you can be made to pay out of your pockets! In fact, I believe there's
going to be an ever growing wave of "eco-terrorism" against
irresponsible land-users! People are becoming more and more aware of the impact
we have been making on our fragile, (YES, STUPID, FRAGILE!) planet. On
second thought I DO condone the work of the "ECO-TERRORISTS"!
They are my heroes! If you want to go out and prove how big of a man you are,
why don't you go out and try to climb that killer hill on a bicycle? Now
that's a real man! Pushing down harder on an accelerator can be done by
hardly any effort! Sometimes I think you guys must all have little dicks or
something. Little men in their BIG TRUCKS. Like I said in the beginning, YOU
SUCK!"
Let me sum this up. In the eyes of environmentalists, we
are.... "Ignorant right-wing rednecks"
"F&CKH#@D"s
"A bunch of apes"
"Knuckle dragging Neanderthals"
"Selfish, childish whiners"
"Morons"
"STUPID"
"A$$ho!es"
"Can be made to pay out of our pockets"
"Irresponsible land-users"
"All have little dicks" (which will no doubt come as a hell of a shock
to all the female off-roaders out there)
and we"SUCK"! Now, if there is still anyone out there who thinks that
"Compromise" with these people is the way to go, they just aren't
paying attention. To drive that point home, let me take this apart one piece at
a time (as is my wont) "The only people that read your column are
knuckle dragging Neanderthals like yourself!" Actually no. Aside from the Time article and multiple
appearances in Blue Ribbon magazine, my work has been reprinted / published in a
variety of "mainstream newspapers" around the country. Add to that,
ABC News, Wired Magazine, CNet, CBS News, Fox News, and some alternative press
on the east coast. I'd say that is considerably more ink than most of your
"Eco Terrorist" heroes garner in an entire lifetime. And ya know what?
It's legal too! "You guys are a bunch of selfish, childish
whiners!" I see you forgot about ............ "Ignorant right-wing rednecks"
"F&CKH#@D"s
"A bunch of apes"
"Knuckle dragging Neanderthals"
"Selfish, childish whiners"
"Morons"
"STUPID"
"A$$ho!es"
"Can be made to pay out of our pockets"
"Irresponsible land-users"
"All have little dicks" (which will no doubt come as a hell of a shock
to all the female off-roaders out there)
and we"SUCK"! ................already huh? Childish indeed! "Public land is just that, PUBLIC. But it
should only be used by responsible people that will leave it the way they found
it, and try to save it for future generations. " Then it would not be "PUBLIC" at all! It would
become the playground of a miniscule percentage of the overall population,
controlled by those who place their green values above the laws of the United
States Constitution. Read it sometime, you're sure to be depressed. "I learned to love the beauty of this planet, and I
stopped wanting to exploit it." Beauty is why we're out there. Off-Roading is recreation,
not exploitation. Only an eco nut with an agenda in his heart and propaganda on
his lips would state what is clearly contrary to the facts. "People are becoming more and more aware of the
impact we have been making on our fragile, (YES, STUPID, FRAGILE!) planet." Oh, you mean like the "pollution" in the water
that caused frogs to grow spare limbs? It turned out to be a PARASITE! A
naturally occurring thing! That kind of fragile? You mean like the "massive amounts of CO2 that human
devils pump into the atmosphere that cause "GLOBAL WARMING", despite
the oceans evaporation being responsible for over 97% of the atmospheres CO2
uptake. Less than 2% is "massive"???? That kind of fragile? You mean like a harmless desert dust storm that throws
hundreds of thousands of tones of "particulates" into the atmosphere,
strips topsoil, and buries plants and animals, yet pales in comparison to the
wanton carnage of a 10 foot wide jeep trail that runs 5 miles through the
desert? Fragile like that you mean? " I don't condone the work of the
"eco-terrorists," and I don't do any of that myself, (well, not
much)...../ On second thought I DO condone the work of the
"ECO-TERRORISTS"!" Then you are scum. Nothing less, and should be treated as
such. Since you have so little regard for your fellow man, I have included your
e-mail address - DIASDE75@aol.com
- several times in this article. I think it's only fair that we "knuckle
dragging, a$$ho!e, small dicked moronic Neanderthals", have the opportunity
to explain our position to you personally. Ain't free speech grand? God knows
you're about to get a pile of it. Enjoy the correspondence! Oh and by the way, since you foolishly included your
e-mail address along with your admission of participating in what are by
definition "illegal" activities, I took the time to forward your
e-mail up to both your service provider AOL, and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation. At the very least, you can expect to have a thorough background
check done into your activities, especially in light of the recent terrorist
actions in Colorado's Vail ski resort. You wouldn't by any chance have been
involved in that ARSON would you? It's also likely that your family and friends in your eco
endeavors will likewise be investigated. Considering such investigations will
likely result in a serious disruption of your, and your friends lifestyles and
one hell of an intrusion into their lives, It's likely you're going to have a
lot of explaining to do to a lot of people. I hope your just full of typical eco
fanatic BS and have a clean record. If you don't, well, just send us your new
address in prison. We'll take up a collection for some environmentally safe
lubricant to make the nights go a little "smoother" on you. Your pal,
