On March 2'nd, Off-Road.com
received this letter from A man claiming himself "William
Stephenson". The letter was in response to my Feb and March "Being
Green" column here @ Off-Road.com. Copies of this letter with full header information
have been forwarded to the proper authorities.Subject:
This f#cked up story

From:
"William Stephenson" will_e_kayote@hotmail.com
To: lenhart@off-road.com This story is one of the most f#cked up pieces of
literature I have ever
found on the internet. Along with your disclaimer at the top of
your
page you should mention the countless animals you run over every
year.
While mountain biking near my home in an area already ruined by you
off
road vermin (I can't mess it up any further than you already have)
I came
across a fawn that had been torn in half by whatever had hit it.
It
was in the middle of a trail wide enough for a truck or ATV or
motorcycle to go through. The sight of that sickened me to the
point
where I spiked every road in or out of the area. several of the
places
where the trails crossed a sandy creek bed I strung piano wire. I
knew
that there they wouldn't slice the neck of any fellow mountain
biker.
Have you ever tried to pedal a bike through deep loose sand? I
used
large spikes, so they wouldn't hurt the feet of Mavis the Mud
hen's
chicks' feet. I hope the same f#cker that hit that fawn hits that
wire
going so fast that his ATV's a hundred feet away before his
pimpled,
shaved redneck gourd hits the ground.
We are out there, and we would be happy if you'd save us the
trouble and
just flatten your own tires.
By the way, why the f#ck would huggers, environmentalists, whatever
you
want to call us want to blow up a beaver dam when we could just
as
easily blow up something much more fun?
Cordially,
Will
Let's take this letter on a point by point
basis.... "This story is one of the most f#cked up pieces
of literature I have ever found on the internet." That may well be. On the other hand, I think the
Sierra Club book "Well Body, Well Earth" by Mike Samules holds that
title for all forms of media. A book that presents it self as non
fiction and containing instructions to introduce yourself to the
earth, hold two-way conversations with it, and "Come to this
visualization space from time to time and consult with you (the
earth) about how "I" can take a more active part in your (the
earth's) noosphere", is a few trees short of a Forrest. "Along with your disclaimer at the top of your
page you should mention the countless animals you run over every
year." Countless because in truth, you
paint this graphic picture without any hard numbers to support the
assertion. You attempt to play on the emotions of the public since
you have no facts with which to make your case. Fortunately,
documentation exists for how many "PEOPLE" have been killed and injured during criminal acts of
"environmental protest". "While mountain biking near my home in an area
already ruined by you off road vermin (I can't mess it up any
further than you already have) I came across a fawn that had been
torn in half by whatever had hit it." This shows greed, arrogance, and lack of
understanding of the ecosystem. Mountain bikes can indeed tear up
the environment when used improperly, just like any other OHV. The
key word is "IMPROPERLY". The funny part of this statement is that
Mr. Stephenson, by virtue of being a Mountain Biker is himself
"Off-Road Vermin"™. It would seem that he thinks it perfectly
acceptable to operate an OHV, but not acceptable for the rest of us
to share in his form of recreation (OHV use). This rather
hypocritical view is shared by many 4x4 and OHV owning
"environmentalists". We at Off-Road.com would like to know where Mr.
Stephenson received his training so that we can share it with our
readers. After all, if he can operate a Mountain Bike with Zero
impact, we will all learn the technique, and cut down on those
frequent talks with Gaia in the Noosphere that the Sierra Club is
promoting. "It was in the middle of a trail wide enough for
a truck or ATV or motorcycle to go through." Or a Mountain Bike, but I digress... "The sight of that sickened me to the
point where I spiked every road in or out of the
area." Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or
violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a
government, the civilian population,or any segment thereof, in
furtherance of political or social objectives. --FBI
Definition Mr. Stephenson just admitted to acts of Domestic
Terrorism. He endangered the life of every man, woman, and child to
travel those roads. Innocent people, all put in mortal danger
because of one persons twisted sense of morality and
"environmentalism". Additionally, as these are roads by his admission,
they are public or private property. By spiking them, he
effectively destroyed what is an active part of the areas
ecosystem. Is that environmentalism? "Several of the places where the trails crossed a
sandy creek bed I strung piano wire. I knew that there they
wouldn't slice the neck of any fellow mountain biker. Have you ever
tried to pedal a bike through deep loose sand?" This is an act of Attempted
Murder. Mr. Stephenson admitted to gross
disregard for any human life other than those that he "personally"
deems worthy. How very Nazi-like of him. What happens when a BLM
officer or USFS service Ranger travels the area on an ATV? He or
she dies. What happens when a child LEGALLY travels the area on an ATV? They die. What happens when any
person LEGALLY travels the area by ATV or motorcycle? They die. What happens to the families of these
people when their loved ones are torn from them by a mindless act
of terrorism committed by a self styled
Eco-Warrior? We can only hope that he and those like him will be
arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, the wire
removed, and innocent lives be saved before you get your wish. "I used large spikes, so they wouldn't hurt the feet of
Mavis the Mud hen's chicks' feet." Mr. Stephenson's sarcasm, in light
of his admission of terrorism, and reckless disregard for human
life, is appalling. For those not aware, this is a reference to
the Feb. 98 "Being Green" column "I hope the same f#cker that hit that fawn hits
that wire going so fast that his ATV's a hundred feet away before
his pimpled, shaved redneck gourd hits the ground." First off, like it or not (and I'm sure he, and those
like him, do not), a human life is more valuable than that of any
animal. Even his, though I am loathe to admit it. Second, the tired
stereotype of "Rednecks with beer, guns, and a 4x4" is no more
representative of today's outdoor recreationalists than saying that
all environmentalists are as sick, demented, criminal, and
terroristic as he admits to being. "We are out there, and we would be happy if you'd
save us the trouble and just flatten your own tires." No, I think we will better spend our time opening
more trails, enjoying our sport, and continuing the seemingly
"never-ending struggle" to expose terrorists such as Mr. Stephenson
to the light of legal and public scrutiny. As a side note,
educating of the public about the truth behind such "environmental
organizations" like Sierra Club, Earth First, SUWA, and Greenpeace
is pretty high on the list of "Things to do today". "By the way, why the f#ck would huggers,
environmentalists, whatever you want to call us want to blow up a
beaver dam when we could just as easily blow up something much more
fun?" You mean like the Federal building in Oklahoma,
Airliners, the Fur Breeders Agricultural Co-op, Hugh Scrutton,
Charles Epstein, Professor Diogenes Angelakos, a computer room at
Berkeley's Cory Hall, or maybe even Timber industry lobbyist
Gilbert P. Murray? Would these be more "enjoyable" targets and fill your
need for fun? "Cordially,
Will" Well Will, I don't find your threats on our lives
very cordial. But for you, maybe it really "IS" easy being green.
After all, when you lack any conscience, it is a simple matter to
disregard the law, constitutional rights and lives of those around
you, and simply "blow them up".
Unfortunately, people like Will here are all too
common in today's "environmental movement", and that should scare
the hell out of any sane person. Rather than live in fear of these
fanatics, do something about them. Do not for one second assume
that they are just blowing hot air. That could be a fatal mistake
for you, and those you love. Report all occurrences of threats, violence, and
criminal activity to the proper authorities. Make these occurrences publicly known by writing your
local newspapers, radio stations etc. Keep abreast of Eco-activity in your area. Be prepared to "legally" defend yourselves,
your family, and your property from attack by Eco-terrorists with
whatever "legal" means are available.
Hate Speech & Population ControlAsk yourself this. In the letter above, what stops
our friend Billy from replacing "Redneck" with "Nigger"? After all,
in a Usenet post, outspoken Eco-extremist Doug Bashford once
referred to OHV users as "Eco-Niggers". It is unfortunate that the
hate and vitriol spewed by the Eco fringe so easily transcends
racial, social, and cultural lines. Why not "Eco-Jew"? How about
"Eco-Spick"?, "Eco-Wop"? Just pick a group / race and hyphenate it.
Of course there's the famous "Eco-Fucker Hit List" that was
published with help from Earth First. The bereaved family of Gil
Murray is all too familiar with that jem. What makes the matter even more ominous is the recent
Sierra Club decision to throw it's hat into the "population
control" arena. I have several problems with this, not the least of
which being ; What business does an environmental group have in
attempting to determine the size of a family? It goes back to "The Wildlands
Project", where draconian
population reduction is a primary goal, and to hell with life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It also goes back to another
time when a genocidal maniac thought he knew what was best for the
world. You just had to be Aryan to agree with him. "It's Not Easy Being Green" - Article
