DAY 2 COVERAGE
Specialty Equipment Market Association

Here's an item you just don't want to leave home without, the legendary Hi-Lift Jack. Can the best jack in the world get any better? Darn straight. We dropped by the Hi-Lift booth and spoke with our friend Brian Thomas to get the inside on the improvements of the tool that ORC doesn't leave home without. The improved jack now comes with zinc-plated hardware, a new powder coating that increases resistance to rust and provides a significantly improved look to the overall package.

For an event not open to the public, you've got to wonder where the staggering amount of automotive enthusiasts come from. The Las Vegas Convention Center packed 'em in as the aisles ignited with - again - the hottest new products on the market.

From the high-performance pro rally cars of Europe to Chinese-made LED lights protruding from the center of the mega-woofers and coffee can exhausts, it was out of control to the extent that we nearly scratched our head bald wondering who the heck buys into some of this stuff.

Not us. Show us the monster suspensions, big tires and high-performance off-road components. Bottom line: show us the dirt.

BAM! Off-road racing is hot on the floor of this year's SEMA Show. Maybe it's just in our blood, or maybe the Baja 1000 is just around the corner, but a few things are for sure. Our coverage is the talk of the show, and off-road racing is everywhere.

What fein of horsepower could shake loose the thought of a Trophy Truck pulling a buck-50 across the Baja Peninsula?

Jimmy Vasser, the man who just raced into the books with his CART victory at California Speedway this weekend, is crossing the border and heading down and dirty into the legend of Baja. We caught up with him today just before he fled for a flight south to San Felipe to prerun for the Baja 1000. He'll be driving the Groff Motorsports Class 1 Unlimited Buggy, and will also be practicing in Lucerne Valley later next week.

From the fast and furious to the Turtle Expedition, we stormed the halls in search of it all. Adventurers Gary and Monika Wescott are slowing down to share the next adventure with non-adventure types on a 14-day trip to Chihuahua, Mexico.

Fabtech Suspensions
The boys from Fabtech packed the new product showcase with some serious suspension for Ford, Dodge, Jeep, Chevy and among a lively list of others, Toyota owners. The new product list is so extensive that it put a number of hardworking Fabtech engineers into the hurt locker and the jacuzzi at the Las Vegas Hilton. What's does all this mean to you and I? Well, of course, it means some incredible suspension systems for our rigs. Take a look at the new Jeep Wrangler TJ kit to the left for example. It rocks. And what about the Glamis assault machine up above? Insane. We're contemplating a trip out to the dunes with the Fabtech crew to get some action video of the RPM-packing Ford luxury Trophy Truck. Stay tuned for that one!
WARN Industries

WARN Industries - Go Prepared! Public Relations Manager, Kelley Egre, introduced us to the new WARN 9.5ti Thermometric Winch
that aims to be the new standard in winches. It combines a massive sealed protective structure that includes a state-of-the-art motor thermal feedback sensor to increase the longevity and reliability of the WINCH that is known to not let you down.

K.C. HiLites
The innovators of lighting up the dark and desolate dirt roads of the world, K.C.HiLites, was on hand and looking just a few weeks into the future when the company hopes to clinch another Baja 1000 victory, adding wall of trophies in the industry.
Durakon
The Ford NF-155 by Bruce Landfield of Roll-A-Long was exactly what any performance-meaning Ford man needs in his stable. It's got some stock options that are purely insane, and we like it. Let's start with the 35-inch BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM's. How did Bruce cram them beneath the wheel wells? That isn't a lift, the height is integrated into the body. No, it's not a body lift. It's more like a sports car for the dirt. Did we say sports car? We most certainly did, but to get that sports car performance to the wheels, you've got to flip the switch to off-road. It's only then that the exhaust opens up and the computer systems sends you back into your seat for some serious off-road HP. Another item that really caught our interest was none other than the slide-out bed by Durakon. The slide-out bed, crafted for easily transporting sport recreational vehicles in the back of your truck bed, slide out to 80-percent of your truck bed's length and comes with a 1250-pound capacity. Again, stay tuned for a full feature at a later date.
Performance Accessories
Got Jeep X? Performance Accessories has got exactly what you need. We hooked up Billy Hiller of the Phoenix, Arizona company and will be heading to their shop for a full review of their extensive line of Jeep TJ, XJ and CJ products. To boot, we'll be looking at their Gerry Can Tire Carrier, their Half Doors, Winch and Light Mounts and a slew of other goodies for your to stay tuned for.
The Girls Of SEMA
Tomorrow
So far, so goooooood. This ain't all folks. We've still got tomorrow. And with beauties like this, we'll leave you wanting more, which we'll provide in our special issue that'll coincide with our normal daily coverage. Stay tuned for the final day of ORC's coverage and, most certainly, The Girls of SEMA.
