Yeah, I think I'm starting to get pissed off. Obviously not at you Leo but at Northern
Ca. dealers who are keeping myself waiting and in the dark for months and Bryan Platt
waiting and in the dark for almost a year.

Time to start calling around this weekend. I'll report on what I find. FYI, I am
holding out for a blue one. I'm also going to write to MBUSA to inform them of
the imbalance.

Just got finished with the brush/light Guard. 2 hours for 1 person.
Leans a little to passenger side, about 1/4 inch. Anyone have
suggestions for left to right?

They only had front to back. I will tug it with my skid steer if no
one has any ideas.

I will bet pictures next week. I will borrow MY nikon from my wife:)

I am putting in the remote start/alarm right now. My wife is bringing
my truck down so I can program the top 2 buttons to my truck and the
bottom 2 to the ML.

Cool, one remote and two cars!:)

I am so good I can't stand it! <smile>

After today I am finished with the car with the exception of 8 more
speakers:)

Cheers

Longest wait in southern Ca. is three months for a 99'. Caliber Motors has plenty of 98's in stock now!
Take a trip and wait no longer. I have an early production and have had only one problem=the remotes. If you swing by Caliber ask for Jeff Cotton and tell him I sent you. Maybe I'll squeeze a golf shirt out of him and sell it to Scott. :)
By the way, duing the longest wait (begining last Sept.) I only had to wait 6 months not 12.

Makes sense. This URL seems to be rather informative on the issue:
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/Pages/mustang.html
For what it's worth, they recommend 60k intervals even with platinum.
They should know what they're talking about; I believe they hold the
patent on plug electrodes with bonded solid platinum pads.

I was told they've discontinued Imperial Red in all models for 1999,
despite its popularity (especially in the C36 and C43).

It's an 800MHz system AFAIK; I looked between the roof liner and the
structure and the mount base is already prewired and mounted to the
roof. The head end is supposedly taped to the rear of the receiver.

I thought so as well, but the wheel articulation (wheel travel
possible) is more important...look at Harold's page where
there is an in-depth discussion of this...

Where at Harold's site?

Ground clearance is important in the New Mexico mountains. The roads in
the National Forests become so rutted in the Spring after the snow melt
due to the logging activity. The logging trucks wear tracks somtimes a
foot deep into the roads. You can ride the center and one side only if
there isn't a tree to contend with along the way. Careful crossing over
as it's very easy to get high centered.

OK Scott. I am eagerly awaiting your first hand experience in the remote
start work. Please keep us posted. I am considering Viper as a remote
start only.

Have you given any thoughts regarding warranty issues with MB in doing the
remote start?

If you saw my post last Monday PM, you'd know you aren't alone! Today I sent a nastygram to our dealer's sales manager, but it won't do any good. When you've got a business where you can sell all the product you can get (and at list price +), it's probably human nature to be arrogant and ignore the niceties of"customer service". I found another dealer and am now on a short(er) list for a 430.\

My first cars required sparkplug changes -- or at least brushing and filing--
every 5K miles or so (and needed their carburettors adjusted twice a month). .
. so the concept of plugs lasting 100K miles boggles the mind! Even at 50K
miles, $20+/- worth of plugs is cheap.

Subject: MB power seat bulliten 1

due to popular request, i deceided to post this message. to avoid
violating the copyright/contract, it is just a detailed outline.

the AAM (N10) controles the power seats. a setting at the factory ony
allows power seat (ps) to be operated by circuit 15c. this circuit is
live only with the key in the"on" posisition. a brilliant engineer
somwhere wired the ps with the power windows, and as you are well aware,
federal law pohibits power window operation without the key in the
ignition, execpt in highly speciffic situations which do not apply here.

this"fix" was published in direct response to customer requests.

"note: this procedure is a customer optional enhancement and not a
repair and as such is not eligible for warrenty reimbursement."

have all parts available, including the special tool 963 589 01 33 00.
disconnect and isolate the - battery cable. remove the fuse box lid,
remove the 5 screw holding the E-box cover. loosen the 2 screws for the
relay/fuse box, this will allow acess to the connecters underneath.
becarefull not to damage the cover atches at the front of the E-box.
find and disconnect the relay/fuse box connector. P/C green 14 pin
connector.

I wanted to let you all know that I recently purchased the Manik Side
Steps and installed them in about an hour and half.

This was a relatively easy process and required no drilling of holes.

If you are considering side steps -- these not only look great but
also can be self installed in virtually no time.

Subject: Squeaks in Cargo/Tailgate area

I have a 98 M-class (4K mi) with the M1 pkge.

There is a constant squeaking/creaking that appears to be in the
cargo/tailgate area.

I've removed the cargo liner, first aid kid and also ensured that the
jack is tightly secured.

I am unable to locate the source. It is more prevelant when turning
in either direction or when the vehicle travels over slightly bumpy
road surfaces.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was the resolution.

(cotinued from thread"MB power seat bulliten 1")

open the even side of the connector to expose the terminals. the
supplemental harness, 163 540 56 05, includes two fuse holders, a
ring terminal, and a two pole connector. both plastic shells are
supplied with the harness, but only one has the terminals installed.
the female terminals removed in the next step will be inserted in the
male side of the plastic connector. remove the wire terminal in
cavitys 12 and 8.

insert the wire removed from cavity 12 into cavity A of the new
connector, the wire from cav. 8 goes into cav. B of the new connector.
close the lock on the connector, then connect ti to the connector on the
harness.

remove the nut from the fuse box circuit 30 stud, and install the ring
terminal, then tighten the nut.

set the fuse box in place and install 2 screws. route the new harness
and 2 fuse holders into the are above the fuse box and install the E-box
cover with 5 screws.

remove the two 30A fuses for the power seats from the fuse box, f32 and
f33. insall both of them in the new fuse holders.

twist the 2 fuse holders sideways and attach them to the rear side of
the fuse box, using the wire tie.

replace the lid for the fuse box, and attach the - battery terminal.
test operatio of the power seats and windows, note that the power
windows will operate if the ignition was on, switched off, until any
door is opened.

re-code the radio, reset the clock/date in the trip computer and
re-synchronize the sunroof.

"note: this procedure is not elligible for warrenty reimbursement."

there you go, that is the basic procedure. just from reading this
bulliten, i can tell that this job is a pain and a half. if you do not
have experience using the special tool to remove wire terminals, do not
attempt to do so. i do not reccomend trying to do this one yourself, i
think that it is not worth the hassle, and there are many possibilitys
of breakage or other damage. this will result in another trip to the
dealer + another harness. i will try and help to the best of my
abilitys if you do deceide to do this, but my honest opionion is don't
try it.

good luck,
