I have the unlucky distinction of being in an accident in my new ML. I was rear-ended last monday while in raleigh, NC. The other vehicle was a 1994 Dodge Dynasty. The police estimated him to have been going 55, skid marks 53 ft long and then hit me at 45. His airbags deployed, mine did not. The majority of my damage is: My bumper cover is toast, there are 4 small door ding dents on the rear hatch (from where his hood buckled up and out), and my muffler was pushed up to the right rear wheel. I will take it in for an estimate today and let you know how much. The other vehicle was undrivable, had to call a tow truck to move him out of the road. Overall I must say I was upset, but still impressed with how little damage to both myself and my vehicle. Guess that safety is really built in well.
