WASHINGTON, Apr. 5, 2002 -- U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service
Chief Dale Bosworth today announced three leadership changes in the Washington
Office staff of the Forest Service. Bosworth announced that Gail Kimbell has
been selected as associate deputy chief for the national forest system; Janette
Kaiser will become the director of forest and rangeland management; and David
Holland is the new director of recreation, heritage and wilderness resources.
Kimbell currently is the forest supervisor on the Pike and San Isabel
National Forest and the Cimmarron and Comanche National Grasslands in Colorado.
She previously served as forest supervisor of the Bighorn National Forest in
Wyoming.
"Kimbell has demonstrated workforce leadership skills, the ability to
forge excellent external relationships and first hand knowledge of a wide range
of critical natural resource issues facing the Forest Service," said
Bosworth. "Her knowledge will be an invaluable asset in this new
assignment."
Kaiser is the forest supervisor on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest
in Montana and formerly served as the forest supervisor of the Manti-LaSal
National Forest in Utah. She was on the range management staff during a previous
Washington Office assignment.
"Kaiser is well versed in range ecosystem management, said Bosworth. Her
skills in working collaboratively with a variety of internal and external
parties will serve her well."
Holland is the deputy regional forester for resources for the Southern Region
of the Forest Service in Atlanta, Ga. He served as director for recreation in
the same region. Prior to that he was the ecosystem management coordinator and
director of forest pest management in the state and private forestry branch of
the Forest Service in the Intermountain Region.
"Holland has experience in various program areas at several levels of
the agency and in key leadership positions in two regions said Bosworth. His
leadership and relationship skills have been demonstrated in his work with
numerous government, tribal and private organizations."
Dates for reporting to their new positions are pending relocation
arrangements.
