We thought we'd take this opportunity, when we know we have your full attention, to bring you important Service Information regarding the 1993 Ford Ranger V6 (2WD), Technical Service Bulletin, RABS Module Inspection/Replacement, Attachment III, Technical Instructions:

OWNER NOTIFICATION PROGRAM 94B38
REAR ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (RABS) MODULE


INSPECTION (Ranger Only)

1. Locate the RABS electronic control module under the instrument panel. The module is mounted to a bracket located in the center of the instrument panel. The location would be just above and to the right of the driver's lower right leg.

2. Check the part number on the module label. It is not necessary to remove the module from the vehicle. The label is on the cover of the module and is facing toward the driver side of the vehicle.

3. If the number on the label is F29F-2C018-AD, the module is OK. No further action is required. Release the vehicle.

If the part number is a number other than F29F-2C018-AD, replace the module.



REMOVAL (Ranger Only)

1. Disconnect the wiring harness from the anti-lock electronic control module by depressing the plastic tab on the connector and pulling the connector off.

2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the intermittent windshield wiper (IWW) module by depressing the plastic tab on the connector and pulling the connector off.

3. Remove the screw and nut that retain the anti-lock electronic control module and bracket assembly to the instrument panel. Remove the module and bracket assembly.

4. Remove the screws that retain the module to the instrument panel bracket. Remove the module. MUTILATE AND SCRAP THE REMOVED INCORRECT MODULE.



INSTALLATION (Ranger Only)

1. Place the correct anti-lock electronic control module in position on the instrument panel bracket. Install and tighten the module retaining screws.

2. Place the anti-lock electronic control module and bracket assembly in position in the instrument panel. Install and tighten the retaining nut and screw.

3. Connect the wiring harness to the electronic control and IWW modules.

4. Check the IWW and RABS systems for proper operation.
