The staff of Off-Road.Com ran the Rubicon trail June 11-14.  There were about 15 trucks in our group. It was a long trip.  We had heard the trail was open but when we got near the end (2 miles past look-out point) snow had covered the trail and our trail boss decided it was best to turn around and go back through the trail to loon lake.  Marlin "Crawler" Czajkowski and Randy Burleson continued on and broke through the snow after a few hours of digging.  The rest of us turned around and headed back.  After taking 3 days to run the trail we moved through the trail as fast as possible to get out and home. We broke up into smaller groups with the faster trucks in front. Our group started at lookout point and drove until 3:30 AM.  We camped at the little sluice for 3 1/2 hours.  Then at 7AM we continued on and arrived at loon lake around noon. Marlin and Randy  got some gas and brought it back to loon lake for the trucks that were low on gas.  Some of our trucks were running out near the end.  We were all very tired but most of us had a great time.  We broke lots of parts and most every truck had problems with mud and rocks in their tire beads.
