No, thats by design, and part of the reason it warms up so fast!
Everything is working perfectly.

That's not cold!
30 degrees is a nice day
20 degrees is cold
0 degress or below is *!#$! Cold!
(please note, wind chill is directly proportional to swearing)
I just built a shelter with woodstove for my truck so I can force a WARM condition!
Subaru required the ol' ether treatment the other morning when it was 6 below.

I'd look into using one of the R-12 multi-component replacements (not
R134A) if you need any work done, such as hose replacement. I'd also be
concerned of the effects of moisture contamination for 3+ years. The
internal environment is acidic and with the addition of water a good bit of
corrosion could have taken place.

If you really want to get into doing it yourself, you can make a good vacuum
pump/dryer out of an old refrigerator compressor. Just weld on a (or get a
screw on "piercing type") valve and splice a power cord to the existing old
power leads. You could then pull a vacuum on the system and see if it holds.

receiver/dryer, O rings, and conversion kit. By shopping around, you can
probably convert your system for the same money it would cost to recharge using
R12. By converting, you are environmentally sound, and, in the future, you pay
around $15/lb. for R134a instead of $60+/lb. for R12. My converted system works

Ken it's easy to convert your system to run 134a instead of that expensive R12. There is a kit you can order in JC whitney, auto parts stores or I have seen them in various auto parts catalogs.
Your right that the seals are probably shot I would change the ones James Brink say's then have a pressure test done with Nitrogen. Vacuum, fill up with 134a and your good to go.
btw make sure to check with the whoever fills up your system that you have enough lubricant in there wouldn't want to burn up your compressor. I believe the lube for 134A is Ester oil.

I am going to check into the R134a conversion. I had never considered it
before because I thought it was extremely expensive, but if it really
does cost only a little over $200, that's great! I'll let you know what
I find out. (I probably won't start checking until late February.)

Subject: EFI and Fuel Pressure Gagues
To: Toy4x4@tlca.org
I pop'd over to the OTC tool web page and later got a catalog in the mail.
For a long time I wanted to connect a permanent in cab fuel pressure
gague to the fuel rail. The problem was how to connect this w/o
wierd and expensive fabrication. OTC now saves the day.
(dont worry, Autometer makes a high pressure isolater
just for this. They also now ahve full sweep (270 deg)
electrical gagues - bu the mech is better at finding
the residual fuel pressure drop)
OTC makes double banjo bolts to fit the fuel rail input -
14mm x 1.5pitch and a matching 14mm banjo to a "schrader"
type quick disconnect (which looks like it fastens with a
1/8" NPT fitting - so its removable to be replaced with
AN style fittings)
{parts # 7852 and # 7851} $43.95 + $41.95
** OR
8mm x 1.0pitch and matching banjo as per above to connect to
the CSI injector (easier to get to, but probably not the place
I'd want to read the pressure off of)
{parts # 7634 and # 7441} $30.95 + $42.95
** OR
a single banjo bolt with the scrader on the end in the CSI size
8mm x 1.0 pitch
{part # 7427} - $32.95
hmm- maybe I'll go the cheap route...#7427
(these are list prices from the price list - most parts stores will
discount this by a tad)

Conditionally. You still almost need line of sight through a window.
I just picked up a Garmin GPS III, which is also a 12 channel unit. I
just turned it on in my home office. Picked up three sats to the west
through the window immediately. Then it picked one up to the east
through the roof. This is a stick framed, shingled roof ranch. The
estimated error isn't great though ~85 ft.I tried it in my office at
NASA LaRC this morning, no dice, but then I even have trouble with FM
radio stations as I'm surrounded with 40, 70 and 100 ft dia steel
vacuum spheres!
For Toy related info I had it on during the ride home from work. The
indicated speed from the GPS unit correlated pretty well with my
swagged correction applied to the speedo reading for my 31" BFG
A/T's. Next challenge is to check out the speedo on my FJ at speed.

necessary to relocate the crossmember. Price was $499 for the

Sorry, for the delay, i tried to find some stuff off some old backup
tapes, with no luck. IIRC, the testing was done by the regional Fed
EPA office. I also know we have a state air pollution board here in
VA. My guess is every state has one. probably a good place to start.
The main culprit here was ozone. All it takes is a total of 4 reading
overs the prescribed value in the course of a year, for two years
running. Yes, 4 in 1 year! We had a high reading that couldn't be
correlated with any other info. The reading station was several miles
from the local interstate. It wasn't hot or was there a prevailing
wing from the highway, so the source couldn't be determined. But it
took a long fight to get this reading thrown out. Luckily the
following year had only two or three readings above, so we escaped
the emissions testing down up in Fairfax.

Subject: PreRunner - 2WD!
To: toy4x4@tlca.org
Ok, its not a 4x4, but it may be of interest to this group.
As some of you know - many race trucks and pre-runners are 2WD.
Downey (and others) makes stuff to turn the 2WD truck into a mondo
travel PreRunner.
Apprently one major limiting factor on the 4WD IFS fronts (both Taco (coil over)
and Gen1-IFS (torsion bar)) is the half shafts. Ditch those and you
can get mondo travel out of it.
Those who remember - the 2WD 4Runners were just that - yank the
xfer, diffs and half shafts an add a "plug" to the back of the
spindle and violia - less dinerio and weight and mondo travel.
Yota now gets into the deal.
There is a PreRunner to be available.
Its a 4WD Taco with the 4WD removed for you.
XTra Cab only.
2.7L 4 cyl or 3.4L v6
TRD package (Bilstiens, new coils and leafs, locker avail w/ v6,
alloys, and 31x10.5)
Prices are expected to slot above the 2WD std XTra cab and the 4WD std XTra cab.

I agree,it would be fun to watch jeeps get smashed up.;-) I seriously
doubt that they would shut us down at Rubicon Springs, once we got there.
I have never seen fourwheelers of any type do this.Whatever.

I can tell you this. I do know the sliding, splined ring on the IFS hub is
different from the one used in the live axle one. The ring is the same
size and spline for both, but the length of the live axle ring is longer
than the length of the IFS one. This is the ring that the dial moves
in and out.
If you're comparing whole hubs, the axle size and spline count
will be different.......27 spline for IFS and 30 spline for live axle.

picked up the tranny and the engine mounts for my 4.3 swap. got the
mounts from downey....nice lookin units...came with new rubber pads and all
the hardware...sweet. question:how much is my 85' 5 speed worth...its got
about 140,000 miles on it....real quiet and trouble free. i figure i'll put
50 bucks on top of the cost for the Napa clutch that only had about 600
miles on it when i took the truck of the road 7 or 8 long monthes
ago....any offers??...cya.TREV

Just curious,do you have to torch off the stock motor mounts with the
Downey units?
BTW,a while back(months)there was talk about Toy top speeds,I found out
today that mine will go 156 kmh(96 mph). How did i find out?The cop told
me so!I must have had a strong tailwind, but i think the cop was lying.
