Has anyone heard of or know about headers made by pacesetter/monza?
Super Shops (racing shop) here in Austin sells one for a 1988 22re for =
$95.00 and that includes all emission hookups, plus collector and they =
say it is 18ga with extra thick flange. That's allot cheaper than I've =
seen anywhere else, also the cat-back system by the same people is =
 $185.00

Jason Wilson '85 X-cab 33" Thornbirds, 3.5" suspension lift, and other goodies Just how much water did you get in your diffs? How long was it there? Are you sure your gears are burnt? I have had water in my diffs before too,but caught it before any damage was done.If the water wasn't in the diff for too long, and it didn't freeze, chances are that the gears may not be harmed too badly.I mean that maybe you could get a few more miles out of them, until you save enough cash to do gears and lockers at the same time. Thanks Austin Marriage If you completely submerge your diffs without having extended diff breathers, you stand a very good chance of getting water in your diffs. You can check for water by pulling the drain plug on your diffs. If it is a whitish milky colour, you have water. If it is the typical grayish or golden colour you have no water, but if its really gray it should probably be changed.I have extended breathers,so i have rarely ever had water in my diffs. Also,i work for a trucking/forestry company so gear oil is free!I change my diff oil fairely often. To: Toy4x4@tlca.org I don't think it is going to happen this weekend, but there are a few of us trying to make it happen next week, at this point I am planning to bring my son Brian and his "jet ski" (what he calls his snow sled) I think Mike Mendart and Jim Brink are in too. Anyone have to mess with this yet, and how did you get it out? Scott I don't know if this is the best way but I removed the entire dash. I didn't see any way to remove the A/C evaporator with out opening up the system. Last time I checked freon was expensive. Besides I was replacing the dash anyway. I didn't like the color. What books have you looked at? I think the Chilton manual has some decent drawings not sure though I seem to have lost mine. I'm not sure what you ment by newer though I think the dashes are essentially the same from 84 to 89 not sure But when I replaced the heater in my 85 I put in a dash from an 88 they look a little different but they bolt in to the same places. Hope this helps - -Jack ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Jan 1998 00:30:48 -0500 From: "Jason Wilson" Subject: locker choice To: I'm still looking around for lockers and the 4x4 shop near me in SC said that Lock Rights wear out after a few years. I've also heard that Detroits are a lot stronger that the Lock Rights because that replace the whole carrier. But, my question is....Have any of you ever had a problem with Lock Rights. I'm trying to figure out if I should spend the extra $$$$ on a Detroit. My rear pinion bearing is SHOT! Now I need to get the rear differential rebuilt. Since I changed my tires to 31's I am going to regear both diffs to 4.56. I am looking at gear sets and am not sure about some of the catalog prices. Do the Downey gear sets come with all of the necessary bearings already? If so then, it would seem that they are quite a bit cheaper than 4WPW. Basically my question is who has the best overall price for two sets of gears and what is the parts list for the job? Thanks, John ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 16:46:27 -0700 From: Tony Bartlett Subject: Power Brake Booster To: Toy4x4 I know Jim already answered this but the reason to replace the one way valve is because it freezes shut. They normally pull to the bad tire (right front) you can try and swap your front tires to see if it helps. (double check your air pressure also) Tony http://www.digitalpla.net/~offroader ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 17:33:10 From: JIM Subject: Tires and Timing.. To: Toy4x4@tlca.org Have a '94 x-cab with stock wheels and 28" tires. I want to find some of the sr5 wheels that came from factory..any ideas where to find 'em? Also what are the recommendations to change the timing (belt or chain?), don't have a manual for it yet. Despite the ideas of timing problems as many others I've determined it is the injectors. This was tested with a set of barrowed injectors from another 88. The 88 ECU just doesn't have it in her to open injectors at 2.6 ohms. The ones I barrowed were 1.3 ohms they worked great. Thanks Brian the page you pointed me to was a real help. And for any one that has hot rodded their 22re to the point that they are getting plenty of air but not enough fuel here is some injector specs. color resistance flow test pressure valve hole engine yellow-orange 1.7 250 2.55 pintle (1) 22R-E (-85.8) pink 1.6 295 2.55 pintle (1) 22R-TE (85.8-) orange 1.7 200 2.9 cone (2) 22R-E (87.8-) also the orange ones have an oval connector found only on 87-88 I think, the others are rectangular. I don't see why the 85 ones shouldn't if the resistance wasn't so high. I'm hunting the junk yards for some around 1.5 ohms. If I find them I'll let you know if there is a power increase.
