I installed the stock spring rate 1.5" coils on our 4Runner.
Since we only use it for mild wheeling and I wanted to
maintain near stock ride in the rear, I choose to use
 a "non-off-road" shock. I bought some Gabriel (I think)
SUV shocks from the local auto parts. These are gas valved
and provide firm but not stiff dampening. I could have also
used the next step up (truck shocks) for firmer compression
 dampening.
I had made measurements and searched the application book
until I found the shock I wanted with the correct dimensions.
I think it turned out to be shocks for an Isuzu Trooper. These
shocks were about $18 as I recall.
I was unable to find a shock with the correct size lower bushing,
so for $3 I bought a pair of Energy poly bushings with the larger
 size hole.
They work great and ride is very near stock.

Chris Geiger mentioned the need for re-drilling the shock mounting hole to
3/4". I'm in the south bay and happen to have a 3/4" drill bit that I needed
to install my front bumper (and even a 1/2" drill to turn it). If you need to
borrow it, you are welcome to it.

Blew thr front pinion seal and caused the pinion nut to back off making it loose.
I replaced the seal and tightend everything up so far it's been okay although the pattern on the ring gear
feels off to me, kind of loose.
No bigge with the front R&P it only needs to spin at slower speeds anyways.

Actually the cost was $25 for a set of stock junk yard hubs, plus about
$3 for all new bolts and washers. Total time spent was about two hours
including disassembly, cleaning, painting, and reassembly.
I now have the choice of freewheeling the front tires or locking them to
the axles. Unlocking the hubs saves a bit of gas, but more importantly
saves wear and tear on the front suspension and driveline. With the
CVs stopped, boot wear is reduced significantly......and if you've ever
pulled one of those #&!^#$^% driveaxles out, you know it's a pain.

I think you mean the 32x10.5R15 radial swampers. The 9.5 swampers are bias
ply tires. I have the 33x12.5R15 SS radials, and they are pretty quiet
considering. They do seem narrow on the truck though. A friend had the
32x9.5R15 bias ply's on a Jeep Cherokee, and they are great off road, but they
are loud and are a rough ride. I think a heavier truck would make it easier
 to keep them under control.
The radial tires, at least the 33's, are less aggressive than the bias ply
swampers. They are more like buckshot radials on steroids. I think both the
33x12.5 and 34x9.5 bias ply's measure out to 33.8 inches. I will probably go
with one of these next time around.

I never had BFG MT but I am now running 33x12.50 swamper "raidials" and can tell you that I love em and will
probably go out and buy a new set when these run out.
I have never had any sort of flatspoting that I could feel with them and they ride fantastic down the highway.
The lugs are a bit tighter together than the bias ply SS which gives em a narrower apperance. I was little
bummed out about that when I first got em but after hitting a few puddles at speed I can tell you I'm happy
with em just the way they are. I have had Bias ply SS and can tell you the raidials are like night and day
compared to the bias. The Bias were always out of balance made the truck wander all over the place and lasted
 about 20,000 miles.
btw I run them on 15x10 wheels so far about 8000 miles and they still look good, heck they even still have the
tits on the side. (will some at least:)

The KC light bar mounts to the rain gutters without any driling. You
should be careful if you are gonna be driving in thick trees though. I
hit mine on a low branch and it put two dents in the body above the
doors. I have a slightly used on now if ya want it cheap.

Nope. If you've have a PRE-ADD truck, and have replaced your auto hubs
with manual...you DO have shift-on-the-fly capability. (of course your
hubs must be locked to do it) I've done this to my own 4Runner. Of
course I'd recommend trying it at maybe 5-10 mph the first time...I'd
hate to be wrong and cost you money. :-) The pre-ADD trucks with auto
hubs couldn't even go into 4WD at 2mph with out some grinding...but
since my switch to manual hubs I've go into 4WD at 40mph (I haven't had
the need to do it on the freeway, but it'll be OK at any speed).

I too do this all the time when i'm plowing snow with my truck. Its too
much hassle to get out and lock the hubs all the time.As long as the
hubs are locked and the rear tires aren't spinning faster than the front
tires, there should be no grinding. You will notice a signifigant loss in
gas mileage though, running with locked hubs.By the way,i have a truetrac
in the front and with the hubs locked in 2hi i can barely notice that
 its there.

If you put a Marlin Dual T-case in your truck, you will have 2wd low,
with or without the hubs locked. With the hubs locked, you have 2wd
low with shift-on-the-fly to 4wd low. Kinda pricey if all you want
it for is just 2wd low, but when you factor in that you also get an
84:1 low-low range. That makes that 22R crawl right up there with a
Land Cruiser with a 350/NV4500 in it. Anyone who has a Marlin can attest
 to this. Great contraption.

 30-11.5
Swampers on my 87 IFS truck. I had the alignment done in May, Sept, Nov and
it needs to be done again. What happened in Sept and Nov is when I put my
truck in 4WD, the toe-in went out of whack. We went on a snow run the
weekend before XMAS and last Friday my toe-in went out of whack. It's not
gradual, it happens immediately. I have replaced the adjusting sleeves, tie
rods are in good shape. Any ideas??>>>>>>>> I've got the same problem with my '90 Toy truck. I think I am working on my
sixth time in recent months of having it aligned...
 1. Rotate your tires. Might make a little difference.
 2. Did you crank up or replace your torsion bars? If you exceed a certain
height, I think if it's over 15" from the top of the rim to the bottom of
the fender well (I have Downey torsions on a stock truck), then you will NOT
be able to fully align it. I can't get the darn things to settle.
 3. Idler arm makes a difference. Check for looseness near the links. If
 it rattles, replace it.
 4. Check to see if the spindle is bent or loose. You will need to take
apart the whole assembly to get to them, so unless you plan doing the
bearing (repack or replace), you might want to wait.
Let me know if you find anything that might help me in the future. I'm
STILL trying to get my truck to drive straight...

There's the Cams in a quick look....
I'd have to say the TRD 0-4800 ones 'look' better on paper, and will probably
idle better than the NWOR cams. They should give a nice increase in low-end
(around 2000-3000 rpm). For 'hotter' cams 278 on the intake is a bit long,
the TRD one should have a 'fair' idle and pull real good once the engine gets
up to revs - this would probably do well on a properly geared truck on the
highway - the smaller cam would be good for those needing to compensate for
 bigger tires & wrong gears.
