The affordable fuel injection engine management system that YOU can program!

1985 Corolla GTS race car Programmable fuel injection for automotive, marine, aircraft and motorcycle applications.

If you have ever cursed and struggled with one of those PC programmable fuel injection systems and thought that there must be a better way, now there is. It's called SDS EM-2

SDS is the easiest digital EFI system to install and program on the market today - PERIOD!

No high priced software to purchase or licensing agreements to sign.

Full sensor diagnostics available in real-time.

Crank triggered, fully programmable ignition with optional knock control.

SDS does not need a laptop or PC for programming.

A programmable engine management system like the SDS EM-2 series allows the precise changing of fuel delivery and ignition timing according to the individual requirements of the particular application.

"EM-2 does not require a laptop for programming"

Unlike other programmable systems on the market, EM-2 does not require a laptop for programming. This feature makes it far less expensive and much easier to use than it's competitors.
The SDS EM-2 can replace the entire factory EFI system on 4,6 and 8 cylinder engines or upgrade older carburetted engines to port type fuel injection with ignition control.

EM-2 F system
EM-2 F system for 4 cylinder engines features programmable fuel injection and distributorless ignition

"eliminates bulky and restrictive airflow meters"

EM-2 uses the speed/density system to calculate engine airflow rates. This method employs a solid state, absolute referenced pressure transducer (MAP sensor) to determine the pressure in the intake manifold. The advantage of this system is the elimination of the bulky and restrictive airflow meters used on mass airflow type systems.
By selecting the correct MAP sensor, boost pressures up to 30 psi may be used. Installation requires only a vacuum hose connection to the intake manifold. EM-2 is designed to control port type injection only. It can be configured to drive low or high impedance injectors with triggering times down to 1.5 milliseconds for a good idle with very large injectors fitted.
Standard systems allow adjustment of fuel values to 9750 rpm in 250 rpm increments. EM-2 D systems can go up to 18,000 rpm in 500 rpm increments.
A water temperature or CHT sensor allows adjustment for fuel enrichment during start and warm-up as well as providing gauge mode monitoring of this parameter.
The ECU monitors throttle position for acceleration enrichment and the system allows for 3 different tuning adjustments.

"no extra cost software is needed for programming"

With SDS, no extra cost software is needed for programming, and values are retained in memory even with power off, once programmed. Programming can be accomplished with the engine turned off or running.
Two gauge modes permit real-time monitoring and full diagnostics of all sensor inputs to the ECU.
A mixture trim knob permits a full + or - 50% change in pulse width from the programmed values.
Major SDS components are housed in quality aluminum enclosures and we offer a 180 day warranty on parts and labor.

"successfully used on cars, boats and motorcycles"

The EM-2 series has been extensively proven over 6 years of development, testing and real world use on a variety of street, race and special applications. It has been successfully used on cars, boats, aircraft and motorcycles.

Thank you all. I have a specific question I'd like to throw out to those of you who are knowledgable about low-restriction exhaust systems. The application is an '86 4x4 truck with a factory turbocharger. I've been talking to local muffler folks who have been trying to sell two different brands of low-restriction mufflers. One is called a megaflow and the other is called a flowmaster. Would you please offer your experience/knowledge as to which is superior? It's my understanding that the megaflow is of the quieter of the two, which I like, but my ultimate concern is performance, hands down. My info on Catalytic converters is rather vague; the shops tell me they have "high flow units, 2 1/4 in, 2 1/4 out... this is CA and you gotta have 'em... they're all the same and none of them honor their warranety." (almost a direct quote) I'm planning on having the work done (it kills me to have someone else work on my truck...) on Monday. I don't think any of the local shops are asking too much, 300-375 dollars, for their work and parts. I have one last question, and this is really bothering me: Where should the 2 1/4 aluminized pipe start? Each of the shops I visited wanted to start about 18-22 inches BELOW the actual flange. I would rather start it at the flange, but... Any comments? Thanks for reading this stuff... All coments welcome... Eric Mewhirter (central CA) '86 turbocharged 4x4 truck (still needs lots of work, but I really like it and I think it's more than worthwhile.) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 1997 19:08:23 -0500 From: Chris & Nicki Yorke Subject: In the need of some advice To: Toy4x4@tlca.org John Schultz wrote:>>> When I make>> a hard left corner with my truck I hear a metal against metal noise>> sometimes. We have been lucky so far and not had to make too many people wait for that lenght of time. There have been a few though. The problem is the plant where the V-6 engines where produced has been retooled for the 3.4 V-6, so what this amounts to is one plant trying to build two engines. At the same time they are trying to keep up production of the 3.4 while producing 3.0 short blocks for warranty repairs. As far as the HG's there are some people who will wait for awhile because of the demand for them, Same deal as the engine. Supposedly Toyota does not actually make their own gaskets someone is contracted to do it, the problem is the same people doing the 3.0 HG's is also making the 3.4's. One little note: supposedly the problem with the HG's is not really Toyotas fault but whoever makes their HG's. This is just what I have heard from different people from Toyota. The first time this happened, my rims were very HOT!!! It seems like the self adjusting mechanism does not know when to stop indexing the shoes tighter. I have to back off the indexer in order to release the shoes from the drum. After I get the drums off, everything looks perfect; according to the Toy manual. Maybe my e-brake linkage is not set up right. I know the manual says the e-brake handle should only click 11 - 17 times. My handle tends to click about 30 times. Does this look like my shoes need to be adjusted closer to the drums? If so, how much drag should there be and how do I know when they are close enough? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. - --Eric ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 1997 22:13:05 -0400 (EDT) From: Leslieddjj@aol.com Subject: remove me from mailing list To: Toy4x4@tlca.org remove me from the mailing list thank you ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 1997 18:52:28 -0400 (EDT) From: DRM033@aol.com Subject: Rough Country 3" package To: Toy4x4@tlca.org In a message dated 97-07-18 02:52:11 EDT, you write: <> Sell it to me, I won't get mad! We just installed some RS5000 on an Int'l Scout, not ordinary RS5000's mind you, but part# 5232's. Here's the skinny: rebuildable, 13" travel, twin tube, with, as Rancho describes,"High Speed Valving Kit - desert racing." Cost? Measly $29 bucks a piece at your local neighborhood 4WPW! We bent up some 1 1/2 tube and made hoops for it off the frame and both were mounted in tandem....coupled w/ springs from Deaver, this two ton behemoth soaks alot of the stuff up....and that's just on some RR tracks around the neighborhood. And get this -- remote resevoirs are available for $140 (!). All you have to do is drill a hole, weld a bung for a NPT thread, and plumb any way you like. Other valving kits are available for "Sand Dune Racing, Mud Bog Racing, and Design Your Own Damping Curve." I'm sorta torn as to whether these might be a viable alternative to some Fox Shox that we were almost about to plunk some cash onto. Some of you w/ sand rails and buggies may have had experience w/ these. How do they hold up? How do they compare w/ others? We haven't taken the Scout out yet for any really gnarly running, but at moderate speeds they seem okay...a bit warm after some passes though(no resevoirs mounted - yet). Any thoughts, persuasions, or recommendations for a Toy? All went well and I can't believe how good the truck rides now. I will have to play with the settings to experiment a little bit but with the fronts on 3 and the rears on 2 the truck was firm but had all the control that it never had with the stock shocks. My results may vary from yours because: my front end has the stiffer Rancho springs and two RS9000's per side on the solid axle, and my rear end has the add-a-leaf springs with one RS9000 per side. Anywaze, I found that _my_ best ride is with all the front shocks on setting #3, and the rear shocks on setting #1 (yep, the softest) with an empty bed. Anything higher and the rear end wanted to bounce up in the air over every crack in the freeway. I haven't carried a load in the bed yet, but I'm sure I will have to raise the setting a notch or two to compensate for any extra weight. I have owned my 85 4runner since 91 and have put it through 6 winters in crested butte CO. Most morniings from DEC to FEB are 25 below zero. We get the occasional 30 below. Heck, were still getting frost at night. My 4runner has never failed to start and perform, never. sure it makes some noise at that temp. the steering pump squeels and the transmission moans a little bit.(the transmission fluid gets so thick that it pushes foward even in neutral.) I dont plug it in to a block heater like many here have to. the only thing i'm careful to do is run an oil that has a 5W-X rating. I have also run slick 50 on and off, but who knows.... As for your rubbing noise, Keep looking for it and you'll locate it eventually. in the mean time enjoy your noise free summer!! It's sitting on all Toyota 4x4 running gear too, with about a 450hp big block. All street legal too! Its pretty cool to cruise around pismo in. Its amazes me the abuse that the toy running gear will hold up to. - -- John D. Its much easier to deal with than gluing in the new windshield, and IMO, would relieve a little bit of stress from the windshield when the truck is flexed out, maybe preventing further cracking of an already damaged windshield. - -- John D.
