Jonathan Koch wanted to build something different. He had owned a 1989
Jeep Cherokee Limited and didn't have much luck with engines. After going
through two engines he'd had enough and purchased the Yukon new in January of
1995. The check hadn't even cleared yet and he began work on project Jeep Eater.
His plans were to build a truck that not only looked good, but performed just as
well. I think you'll agree from the specification sheet and the pictures he
accomplished what he set out to do and then some.
Jonathan drives the truck everyday. Whether it be to school, work, or towing
friend's jet-skis and dirt bikes, he uses it. To get more power out of the
basically stock 5.7L V8 and to help him get to his destinations faster, Jonathan
installed a Whipple Supercharger, and a host of other performance upgrades. The
results - an outstanding 375+ HP was realized. Take a closer look at the modifications
under the hood.
When Jonathan isn't driving his truck he's working on it. From the engine
work to the sound system, he installed and put together just about everything on
the truck. He did enlist the help of R.M.S. Off-Road in Bohemia, NY for
installation of the Pro-Comp suspension. Jonathan handled the lateral traction
bars and dual shock kit himself. In between driving it and working on it, he's
constantly cleaning it. It gets wiped down, waxed if needed, polished, and is
EXTREMELY well maintained. His neighbors think he's nuts washing the truck in a
snow storm. What can you say about a detail-a-holic?
With 36" Dick Cepeks and a highly modified V8, Jonathan's Yukon is
making its' mark where ever it goes. It seems everyone gets a kick out of it,
young and old. Jonathan is always improving his Yukon so who knows what will be
in store next for the JEEPEATR.
