 Does it jump around when rolling along with the ign on but the engine

 If so then it is noise possibly from bad spark plug wires.

 I cant be sure (its dark out in the parking lot), but the cargo "D" rings
 that I have are bolted to the floor.
 If you crawl under the truck, there are "oval" shaped doubler plates with
 a raised lip around the edge (strenghtens the doubler plate). There are
 "nuts"
 welded to this plate.
 It looks like in some cases, the doubler plate is there, but the holes are
 NOT
 drilled through the body.
 Drop the space tire and look for the doubler plates. If they are there,
 then use a small
 drill bit to "carefully" drill into the interior and then use a large bit
 to
 carefully ream the hole larger.

 I agree, was pointing out the difference between the ARB and Detroit.
 Any diff can be crap if not used in the proper vehicle. IE a street rig
 with a Detroit instead of the LSD.  My personal rigs I run Detroit?s but
 the company rigs have a mix of ARB and LSD?s (True Trac) depending on
 the Road/Trail usage. I would not fit a Detroit to a company rig opting
 for the ARB. Reason being as the ARB (open) and LSD tolerates bad
 drivers easier on the street.

 If the clutch took you 2 weeks, pulling the head and replacing the timing
 chain will take you considerably longer.
 When I did my timing chain (22R-TE) in March, it took me two days, in
 part because the crank pulley bolt was unbearably tough to get off (take
 note!) and I was also being really anal about getting the old gasket
 material off of the block. If I were to do it again now, I know I could
 do it in less than a day, but the first time through usually takes the
 longest for any job. I didn't pull the head, BTW --  in fact I only
 unbolted the pan and dropped it down a little, and this was something I
 came to regret a few months later when my head gasket blew and I had to
 pull the head, etc.
 THAT job had my truck down for about two months, mostly because I took
 the opportunity to upgrade a lot of other parts at the same time (head
 work, bigger turbo, etc.). I consider myself to be a pretty decent
 mechanic, but a job that involves disassembling more than half of the
 engine is going to take some time to do right. If you intend to really do
 the job correctly, and it sounds like you do, then you'd better be
 prepared to have the truck in a disassembled state for a while.

 If memory serves keep the cable length in length's of 9 feet, ie 9, 18,
 27... Doesn't your radio shack still sell cb's down there?  The cable is
 standard RG58 and RS almost always has solder on connectors for diy.  Don't
 forget to match (adjust) the antenna after installation or you could be
 putting a strain on the output tranciever (aka Finals).

 needle bearings will roll. If they don't roll the will not be lubricated

 Several years ago I put a lockright in the rear on my '91 Toy, it had a
 single spring for each pin.  I just recently put a lockright in the rear
 on my '98 Taco.  It had two springs for each pin.  I kinda wondered why
 there were two springs, is it so if one breaks it will still unlock?
 I've never had an EZ locker in my hands to look at, but from looking at
 ads and such, it looks virtually identical to the lockright.
 Now if I could just get gears or a crawler xfer case for my Taco I would
 be a happy camper!  :)

 vents the air when you shut off the ARB. The reason that you are getting
 oil is the o-rings are leaking a bit. Call ARB and the will send you new
 ones at no charge with the instructions on how to put them in.

 That's plugged when the ARB is off, so I don't have to refill the diff
 fluid as often. If I plugged it with the ARB on, there might be a slight
 problem getting air to the locker. I already know the problem is with
 the o-rings, and I have called ARB and have been sent o-rings before.
 Like I said originally, this is my second time around. Getting free
 o-rings from ARB is easy, it's the labor charge for taking the
 differential apart thats hard. Besides, there's no guarantee it won't
 leak again.

 The biggest problem with these is oil entering into the speedo sensor
 itself. If it is the sensor, replace the oil o-ring inside the
 transmission too.

 Subject: Manual Toyota tranny for sale
 Last month I had to replace the tranny housing in my 90 Toy truck.  I
 purchased a used 5 speed transmission, and I only used the rear portion of the
 housing.  That leaves a complete transmission with  only a damaged rear
 housing.
 The transmission is the type where the transfer case shifter is in the tranny
 housing ( I don't know the name for this model).  I was told that it had
 approx. 40,000 miles on it.  The broken housing part is that one of the
 corners on the bottom where a bolt goes through broke off.  the piece is about
 2" x 3".  I have had several people tell me that is could be repaired.  As far
 as I could tell, all internal parts are in good working order.
 Anyway,  I need to get this thing out of my garage.  I would like to get $150
 for it.  I figure that the internal parts alone are worth this, and this.  if
 yours had let go you could always swap the rear of the housing with the one in
 your truck like I did.  Please e-mail me off the list of you are interested.

 The thing with the Nissan mounts would require some super long shackles!
 Besides, the stock springs can't even dream of supporting the weight of
 the Toy without some help. I ended up with a cut #3 yota leaf and a
 short/thick add-a-leaf, for about 2" of lift, and ~18" travel hub to
 fender. The travel would definitely increase with some higher arch
 springs, but I would need to do some sort of lift in the front too (darn
 IFS).

 Well, it'll already have 4.88:1 gearing if you wanted to eventually put
 in a stick (with marlins?). That would be perfect for at least 33s. But,
 you know, its gonna be alot easier to just find a stick and regear, if
 that's what you want. They are hard to find, but its still easier. I'm
 talking from experience. I swapped over from an auto in my '86 Runner.
 Wasn't too bad, but it took a couple of weeks to do. Had to swap
 transmission, driveshaft, pedal assembly (includes drilling precisely
 located hole in fire wall), interior trim. Ended up costing almost a
 grand.

 stock locations, and remove the stock shackle hanger too.  On the rear I would
 change over to a Jeep CJ shackle hanger.  This would allow me to bolt the
 shackle hanger on, and also space the hanger down some if needed (weld drop
 bracket for hanger on the frame).  This would have to give you at least 2" of
 lift even if you used stock length shackles.  With a longer shackes & a 1"
 block it would be an easy 4" of lift.
 The main reason I would not jump into using these tall hangers in the lower
 position is that they would really be subject to hanging up on things.  I
 guess it could be done though.

 First, I have very little experience with the 3.0 V6 and it's necessary
 maint.
 My girlfriends 94 4Runner just rolled 80K.  The dealer wants her to
 replace the timing belt and quoted $276 for the work (WHOA, seems WAY
 cheap to me...)...
 I got 180K+ miles out of the chain in my 22re, so I don't see any
 reasons to replace the belt yet.  It's my understanding that the v6's
 are non-interferance engines, so if the belt breaks, it's just a matter
 of getting it towed and replaced...
 Help would be great here...  she's really getting on me about this!!!
