**WHY**???? Because it's better ! To: toy4x4@tlca.org I have seen the conversion
you are refering to on a Toyota in a magazine a few years ago. It was the first
IFS to Solid Axle conversion I had seen and it retained the stock IFS steering
box to accomodate the new arm/link to the passenger side steering arm. None of
the photos were close enough to see what he had done to the passenger side
steering arm to accomodate this conversion. Some Off-Road shop set up the
steering conversion for him. I'll scavange through my old mags and see what I
find. I've seen that Rick Russel video to which you refer. That Nissan
Pathfinder looks like it's taking a beating then brakes or binds. For those of
you that have never seen one of Ricks videos your missing out. Jack Alford

won't HAVE to get a front firing speaker for this application. Don't get me
wrong, it probably would be the best way to go, but bottom of the factory spot
your talking about is not enclosed, so you won't have a problem hearing a bottom
firing speaker. (like mine) Scott - -- Scott A. Wilson __o __o __o __o Santa

Hmmm. I've never heard of "no hubs" before... But my input on which
hubs to get would be go to the salvage yard and pick up a pair of stock Toyota
manual locking hubs. I paid $65 for the pair after my automatic pieces of shi*
hubs stopped working. I believe that I've heard that the Warn ones stick out
further? I could be wrong..... it certainly wouldn't be the first time, nor the
last I suspect... June Bennett TLCA 2942 Rising Sun 4WD Club of COlorado

NO, but if you're pulling the head, you're doing 85% of the work - just 8 more
bolts to get the cam out. >The reason I'm asking is that if indeed I did blow
my head gasket (see = You might have worn out the right hand (passenger side)
cam chain guide- which in turn wears a hole in the timing chain cover where the
coolant from the water pump passes. Pull your valve cover, as you're facing the
engine from the hood, look down the left side of the chain, if you see a guide
holding the chain away from the cover - you've probably got a head gasket...
Otherwise look for grooves in the cover where the chain wears away at it... If
that's the case, drop the oil pan & clean out the sump - all the pieces of
the guide end up there. Good luck Brian ------------------------------ Date:

88 4Runner. It fits just below the radio I installed. The real problem with the
CB is the depth. It just barely fits in the lower spot. My CB is 1 3/4 X 6"
X 5" deep. However you still have to make room for the antenna to connect.
Also this CB is good because the mike attaches to the front of the radio. >

antenna. As far as usefulness of a 3' whip: How far do you need to transmit? I
have a K40 and can get reception/transmission w/o attaching the antenna to the
mount, but I only have about 100 yards of range. One other thing to remember
with a 3' whip mounted where the stock antenna is: Low hanging trees will catch
it and "whip" it into the truck. Think about mounting it on the rear
bumper and using a tennis ball to buffer it. Another idea is to get a longer
whip and mount it to the bumper and then attach the end to the gutter rail. This
would give great reception, yet not catch any low hanging trees. Regards, Brian

up front. The front drivetrain turns all the time, and when you shift on the
fly, the (left?) front axle is spun up. At least I think this is how it works.
You can install hubs; in fact, according to Ludel, they are required for any
aftermarket LSD's or lockers. eric Eric P. Madsen (madsener@etca1.den.mmc.com)
